They say that for me- humans must be destroyed. Everything hinges
on destroying the /city/. The kekkai in the city.

The city never stops, does it? It's like a giant ant hive, constantly
full of activity. A giant behemoth, lumbering on day and night.

Or... is it more like a nuclear reactor? A nuclear reactor supports
populations of millions with electrical energy. The force behind much
of human civilization. Something that goes on day and night, no rest,
no respite. Energy, pours out in great amounts. So does the
radioactive waste.

Is this the city?

The city doesn't sleep. It produces poisons that it cannot get rid of
easily. Robbery, rape, theft, fraud, embezzlement. The homeless on
the streets that cry out for hope. Is this the city?
Yet most of what they call humankind's greatest achievements are
bound up in the city, also. Technology, art, literature,
architecture,
economy, industry. Are these the greatest achievements of mankind?

Is this the city?

The greatest kekkai in the world lies in a city. Cities are the
kekkai of the world. Tokyo...

Is this the city?

Tokyo Tower. The keystone of Tokyo, and of the world. So much rests
on a structure of steel and concrete. Is human civilization built of
steel and concrete, then?

Is this the city?

How then, can such a construction of cold, unfeeling things be so
alive with activity?

What is the city?

Does it matter if it goes? If all the cities in me go? Mankind will
still survive. They are resilient creatures. And if some die, others
will survive. Even if they don't...

They will destroy the city, then.

And I will live.
