The Final Scene
I would love to hear your opinions since I love writing about these wonderful characters.
I do not own or have connection with the "Criminal Minds" program or its characters.
There is a lot of speculation about the last scene of the last episode in the season four of this show. It is believed that Hotch has been shot, I disagree and this is my version of what happened that fatal night.
The case is over and our team has returned back to the D. C. area, Aaron Hotchner enters his two-bedroom apartment and drops his keys at the hall table near the door along with his go bag. He takes his badge and gun off and places them on the dining table and goes to the bar to pour him a drink. He looks up and sees in the glass of the picture above the wet bar, a figure of the Boston reaper. He turns around to face him as he is not afraid to face any attacker.
The reaper says, "You should have taken the deal."
In Hotch's mind, that is not an option as he bends and in a split second has his ankle gun out and shoots the reaper as the reaper shoots at him. The reaper falls with a bullet hole bleeding from his upper right chest. He is still alive since Hotch was not shooting to kill. He wants the man to face justice in the court systems and his victims to have closure of that knowledge.
He goes to the dining table and gets his cell phone to call 911.
"9-1-1, what is your emergency?"
"My name is Aaron Hotchner with the FBI; I have just shot an intruder to my home. Please send the police and an ambulance to 3600 Quantico Terrace Drive. He hangs up and calls David. "David, I just shot an intruder in my home, I believe it's the Boston Reaper. I already called 911 and the police and an ambulance are coming."
"I will be right there. Wait for me Aaron."
The sirens begin to be heard from a distance while Aaron sat in a dining room chair and looked at the man on his floor moaning. He gets up and looks at him.
"I don't make deals and I don't compromise."
The police and the EMTs arrive at the door and Aaron allows them in to do their thing. He told them how he had arrived home and the actions that he did. They did discover the bullet embedded in the wall behind the wet bar which they will test to the gun from the man on the ground. They take Aaron's guns and badge and while they are processing him to take him to the station for further questioning, David arrives and supports him. He will contact their superiors and the police tell him that the story will likely check out and he will get his badge and weapons back in the morning. However, they are required to take him to the station for holding over night. The EMT's take the reaper's body out to the ambulance under guard.
The agents just look at the body as it goes out. David is happy that Aaron did not get injured himself in the altercation and was able to keep a cool head and be the professional that he is.
Aaron is happy just to be alive.
