"Passion"
ZADR 1-Shot
There was no other way to describe it. Just Passion. No one could think of any other possible label for what went on between the two. No one was quite sure what it was anyway.
Love? Hate? Some odd emotion inbetween? Something there was no word for. They didn't even know how to label it, so no one bothered to ask.
"I despise you!"
"And you think I don't hate you, Dib-stink?!"
But was hate really what it was? They always called it that, but there was far more emotion there then just pure hate. Hate itself couldn't drive someone nearly as long or far as these two had, and still they fought on.
"You'll never win, pathetic worm baby!"
"If I don't, I can at least I can stop you, alien scum!"
If it wasn't love and it wasn't hate, then what on Earth -or Irk- was it? Was there such a powerful emotion between them? Apparently there was, as it was planly shown between them.
If something serious ever happened to either, what would happen to the balance? If one or the other was killed or taken away the other would be lost. No other living thing would ever be able to create the same passion the two made together.
"You'll end up on an alien autopsy table one of these days, Space Boy!"
"Not before your pitiful human race is enslaved by the almighty ZIM!!!"
Considering both knew this perfectly well, why did they give hollow threats? Both knew the other would acctualy act upon their threat, at least no further then continuing the seemingly endless war. Then again, one or the other would have to die sometime.
"Your stink beast race doesn't have a very long life span, Dib-thing."
"Well, I'll be sure to kill you before you before I die!"
What was really behind tose threats, the teasing and the constant nagging? No one knew that either. Sometimes they bickered like brothers, other times like a married couple. Things never seemed to stay consistent between them, which made it that much harder to pin their relationship.
The need between them brought them perpetually closer, but before anything serious could ever happen their fighting would send them back to square one.
"Are you alright, Zim?"
"Why would you care?"
"I don't."
"Then why'd you ask?!"
ect...
Among their peers were people who wished they just get over with it and get together so they'd stop fighting, while others would die at the thought. After all, Keef was Zim's best buddy and Gretchen was the only one to ever give Dib a valentine.
"Hey, Zim! Wait up!"
"Away with you, dirt-child!"
"Here Dib!"
"Huh? Oh yeah, whatever..."
Though both always acted outcast, like no one else cared, but that was untrue. Both had another that cared deeply about them but instead the chose to ignore them and focus on their 'arch enemy'. And so, in their own world, there was only one other being that cared what-so-ever about them.
That was another thing that drew the twosome together. Another thing that made it impossible to deciver their relationship. Maybe the only thing there was to call it was passion. Thats the only sure-fire thing that could ever come close to labeling whatever it is thats between them.
Just as plain and simple as that. Passion.
