"Shhh," Jack said trying to quiet down his three younger siblings. "Be quiet you guys. We don't want to wake Mom up."
"Sorry," The twins said together.
He sighed, "I have an idea. The two of you should go make a card for Mom. Henry and I can go make breakfast."
The girls smiled and ran off to their room. Henry smiled at him, "When's dad getting home?"
"He said he'd be here at eight."
The boys snuck into the kitchen and made a big breakfast for JJ. It was her birthday, and Aaron had been away all week. He had told her he was going to be gone for another week, and secretly made plans with the kids to surprise her.
The boys heard the door open and Aaron quickly joined them in the kitchen. The girls ran in and hugged him.
"Look Daddy!" Haley said handing him a construction paper card.
Lucy smiled, "We made it ourselves."
He smiled at the girls, "That's very nice. Is that our family on the front?"
"Uh huh," They said happily. Jack had already moved all the food onto the tray. The boys hugged their dad and Jack picked it all up to carry into their mom's room.
"Happy birthday!" The girls yelled when they were all in position. The girls were on either side of the bed with Jack and Henry at the foot. Henry had a present and the girl's card and Jack had the breakfast. Hotch stood just outside the door.
"Wow," She said smiling. "This is so sweet!" They handed her the food and the gift and all sat around her on the king sized bed. "This was a great surprise you guys."
"Wait," The girls said smiling.
Henry beamed, "We have another surprise too!"
"Really?" She said curious. The first surprise hadn't been too huge, but she had no idea what else they'd do.
Aaron came in with flowers, "Really."
"Aaron! You're home," She beamed and kissed him. "You all did a great job. Thank you!" She was truly grateful for the amazing family she and Aaron were raising and she couldn't be happier with them. It was a birthday to remember.
