The alabaster boy waited just beyond the outskirts of the Lapush territory beside his stationary Volvo. The stench of dog permeated the area, offending his senses and seeping into the textured cotton of his clothing. He smelt her before he saw her, so familiar with her scent, despite the overriding smell of wolf.
The dog stilled the car and leisurely slipped his gangly form out of the vehicle. Bella remained in the passenger seat. Her head down and hands busy rummaging in her bag. The wolf sauntered around the front bonnet, opening Bella's door and offering his hand to help her out.
Anger rose in the bottom of Edward's stomach as his nostrils flared and body tensed. Bella looked up puzzled by Jacob's presence at her side before getting out of the car without accepting his hand. A smug smile graced Edward's features. God he loved her.
She crossed the boundary whilst bidding a quick goodbye to that dog. Jacob leaned against the bonnet of his car, features coolly collected, but Edward could hear the ragging jealousy running through his mind.
Bella smiled up at him, eyes bright and cheeks flushed from the cold chill. She touched his hand, warmth spreading across his palm as she signalled towards the car. He followed her and smoothly slipped into his Volvo, turning the keys as he lifted the brake. Bella placed her hand on his. Edward looked glanced through the window, his grin growing wider as he raised the pair's adjoined hands for the dogs inspection as he turned the car and drove him and his Bella in the opposite direction.
