Prompt: Resentment (#135)

The Traitor

Sirius leaned against his motorcycle, pulled out a cigarette and lit it up.

Looking up, he stopped as he caught sight of the clear sky and without meaning to, found himself considering the stars that littered the sky.

A grimace pulled at his lips as he pulled away the cig from his lips, and let out a stream of pale grey smoke.

He'd always thought it was incredibly stupid to be named after fucking stars. But he supposed, he could have had it much worse... like Pollux, or Bella.

He smirked in amusement. It really stuck in her gullet to be called Trixie.

Pulling the butt of the menthol cigarette back to his lips, he turned away from the stars and looked across the street to the muggle bar where two very drunk birds were standing with three guys and for a moment, his heart twinged.

For one crazy second, he thought he was seeing Reg. But then the skinny boy with dark hair turned, and displayed a nose that was too large to be anything like Reg's and Sirius felt stupid for having thought for one second that his little brother would be caught dead in muggle rags and spending time with muggles or mudbloods.

Turning back towards the sky, Sirius shook his head as rage boiled inside him.

Regulus had always been the favorite. And when he started going to Hogwarts, it only got worse.

How Sirius hated him.

Well look what all that got you Reg, you're probably fucking dead, Sirius thought up towards the heavens as his brother had not been seen for over a month. But the void in his heart, made the statement bitter and hurtful.

His traitorous eyes began to sting, and Sirius tossed away the cigarette from him, telling himself stubbornly it was the smoke.

Because he would not cry tears for some Death Eater prat, even if he were his blood. As far as he was concerned, anyone with a Dark Mark should be dead.

Hopping onto his bike, the beast roared to life beneath him. And just like that, he shot into the night, leaving morose thoughts in the dust.
