One day at the Big Harbour, the Dispatcher had some wonderful news for Foduck.
"You are to go down to Theodore's old harbour and participate in a special safety show there. It's to teach newer tugs the meaning of safety."
Foduck was very thrilled.
"That's fantastic Dispatcher!" the safety tug said, clearly excited.
"The only thing is, Foduck, you'll be away for a few days." The Dispatcher added.
"Well, I'm sure a change of scene will be excellent." Foduck replied.
But when the other tugs overheard, they were very upset
"I don't want him to leave!" Hank protested.
"Neither do the rest of us." Emily replied.
"If he does go, then who will replace him- for the time being, that is?" Theodore inquired.
But no one was sure of that.
...
So they went to see Dispatcher about it, to see if anything could be done.
"Dispatcher we don't want Foduck to leave!" They all protested.
Foduck and the Dispatcher were surprised.
"He'll only be gone a few days. You will see him again." The Dispatcher assured.
"But then who will do his job when he's away?" George asked.
"I'll still be doing it you know- just farther away."
The tugs were shocked to hear this.
"What- but, how will you?" Theodore asked curiously.
"Simple- I'll be teaching other tugs about safety. Don't you all know how long I've wished to help others learn all about safety? This is my chance to do it, so I hope you guys understand."
The other tugs thought about this.
Theodore eventually said.
"I've always dreamed of going to other harbours far out across the world, and I wouldn't want to be held back by my friends wanting me to stay. I'm sorry Foduck."
The others all said sorry also, for they took this to heart.
"That's alright," the safety tug smiled. "I'll miss you, yes, but I will enjoy this."
...
A few days later, Foduck set for the harbour where Theodore once lived.
"Theodore?"
"Yes Foduck?"
"I'll tell your old friends hello from you if you want."
"That will be great. Thanks Foduck."
"You're welcome."
