The sky was dark when Setsuna was woken. A single meteor, the size of a bottle-top, had hit his shielded helmet.
"Wha.. What?" he said to himself, seeing only black around him. His visor lit up, magically back from the dead once it had detected it's owner had awoken. Setsuna turned his attention to the readouts. No signs of life, no Gundams nearby. It was hauntingly bare.
He soon remembered.
"Lockon...", he murmured, more concerned with his friend's demise than his situation. He soon got his priorities sorted. He turned around, using his body's momentum, and a poor, broken Exia was what he was rewarded with. He immediately grabbed some shrapnel close by, and propelled himself towards his Gundam. The entire cockpit was completely destroyed, only the familiar seat and a single monitor to the left remaining. It's head was missing, as was it's right arm. Setsuna climbed into the seat, comforted even by this hopeless sight. He tried accessing the monitor, and it soon rose to life, showing a single status screen with more than half of it occupied by warning signs. Inside Exia, Setsuna allowed himself time to think.
"The fact that Celestial Being didn't retrieve Exia, or even the Solar Furnace, after the battle means that they are either in hiding, cannot figure out my whereabouts or have been defeated", Setsuna spoke to himself, reassured by his own unshaken voice.
"With Exia in it's current state, I'm not going to be able to make it through the Earth's atmosphere alive. I'm going to have to travel to a nearby space station, but that will undoubtedly be swarmed with those fake Gundams, just waiting for me", he continued.
Even so, he decided that his only shot of getting somewhere was to land at a possible gateway to Earth, or at least somewhere where he could repair his Gundam. And then he remembered.
"Jupiter".
Exia's Solar Furnace was functioning perfectly, and by closing Exia's hand and legs over the cockpit, Setsuna was easily able to travel to Jupiter. Thanks to the weight loss from the bodywork, Setsuna had landed on the planet within minutes. To his mild surprise, the entrance was wide open.
"So, this is where they got the Pseudo-Solar Furnaces from", he told himself, cursing that he didn't realise it sooner. After entering, leaving Exia next to the entrance, he immediately ran to the control room. Several warning signs were showing, but Setsuna showed obvious relief.
"They didn't manage to find it, eh?", he told himself almost jokingly. Then he proceeded to the left of the room, where there was a door. He placed his hand on it, waiting for the biometric scanners to kick in, and pushed the handle down.
What awaited him was Gundam ZX. Aeolia Schenberg's Pride. And it was ready for action.
Author's Note:
So, what do you think? Should I continue this story? The concept came up after watching the beginning of the second series, and thinking "How did everyone not die again?" And they still killed off lichty. So, I figured, best way to get rid of my annoyance was to write some Fan Fiction.
P.S, people are still gonna die.
Please rate and review, any criticism is appreciated. Just to know someone actually read it :)
