Toshiki Kai was a smart man, he knew a lot of things.
But for the love of god, he had no idea why his heart sped up when Misaki Tokura was near him, or why he felt like he wanted to rearrange his best friend's face when he subtly flirted with the lavender-haired ice cube.
She was at fault too, she didn't even try to stop Miwa's advances! For someone so smart, she was dense as a rock.
Not that he could complain, he still had no idea why he reacted so strangely to Misaki Tokura.
Maybe it was her perfume, not that he purposely smelled her when no one was looking.
Or maybe it was her shampoo, not that he secretly reveled in the lavender scent that fit her hair color.
He was starting to sound like a crazy stalker, he needed this to stop, fast.
Because he had a hunch that other people were starting to notice his weird behavior, especially that annoying red-head.
"Um, Kai, it's your turn now."
He heard a quiet snigger in the background that suspiciously sounded like Ren's.
Oh right, he was in the middle of a cardfight.
With Misaki Tokura no less.
And he snapped.
He slammed his hands on the table and the cards shook.
Misaki looked startled and everyone in the shop stopped what they were doing to look at the scene that was unfolding.
"Why?"
"Huh?"
The confused look on Misaki's face mirrored on everyone else's.
"Why is it that every time you're near, I get this weird feeling in my chest, or when someone flirts with you, I want nothing more than to throttle them until they turn blue?"
Silence.
He looked at Misaki's face, who looked serious. Their gazes locked and they were engaged in an impromptu staring contest when a laugh broke the silence.
Everyone turned to the hysterical man who had tears in his eyes and was clutching his stomach.
He was struggling to form words but finally, he managed to calm down enough to walk towards Kai and swing his arm over his shoulder.
"That my friend, is called love."
And Ren Suzugamori continued his hysteric fit if laughter.
The others focused their attention to the blushing Toshiki Kai and Misaki Tokura.
They missed the look of hurt that flashed in Ren's eyes.
