A new drabble series I've come up with, for all the short, pointless one-shots that come from too many hours of daydreaming.

Disclaimer: I don't own Death Note, or any of the characters. Although I wouldn't mind owning that fine piece of ass Mail Jeevas ;)

It was nights like this that Light appreciated the most. The rest of the detectives had left—it was just he and L, the latter looking adorably panda-like as he devoured a piece of strawberry cake.

"You know… all those sweets will make you taste like sugar." Light enjoyed teasing the detective immensely.

Large, black eyes turned towards Light. "…is that so? I wouldn't know, as I have never tasted myself. Do you find it to be an agreeable taste, Light-kun?"

"What—why would I know? I—I don't taste you." Light felt as though he brought this on himself.

L shrugged, finished his slice of cake and promptly leaned towards Light. "Well, now I must know. Do I taste like sugar?" Their faces were very, very close.

"I don't know! I don't—I don't even like sugar!" The younger boy was frantic, and very much aware of the look in Ryuzaki's eyes—the same look he had when they were first handcuffed together—a mischievous, curious look.

"That's a terrible thing to say. Sugar keeps one energized—it allows me to stay awake so I can scrutinize you at all times…even when you're sleeping." L's eyes bore into Lights, even as he stated such an unsettling thing.

"…That's actually a very creepy thing to say, Ryuzaki. Some things are just not socially acceptable—you really should lay off the sugar, it's a wonder you're not—"

L pressed their lips together very suddenly. The auburn-haired boy gasped, inadvertently allowing further access to his mouth. And it was so wrong—but Light's body was reacting in very, very, inappropriate way. L should not know how to do such things with his tongue—it's not as though he had any practice.

It seemed as suddenly as it begun, L pulled away, and smirked, "Well?"

Light couldn't talk—he could hardly breathe. He was stunned and… more than a little turned on. He replied with a highly eloquent "Wha…?"

"Has Light-kun changed his mind about sugar? Or shall I reiterate..?"

"Er…yes." A repeat of that kiss would be great, thanks.

"Excellent. I'm glad Light-kun has understood the importance of sugar." Ryuzaki returned to his laptop with the same, apathetic expression on his face as usual.

Light face-palmed at the misinterpretation of his answer.

Thanks for reading! Review?
