A/N: So this title is playing off the words in the title of another of my one-shots.
Casey's Cub and No One Else's
At Jungle Karma Pizza, Casey was reclining in a chair with his arms resting behind his head without a care in the world.
"How is it that all of your tables are clean, and all of ours are a mess?" Theo asked.
Casey brought his arms out from behind his head and placed them in his lap, sitting up straighter. "Easy. I have a helper today."
As if on cue, Josh took the seat on Casey's right. He even was wearing a Jungle Karma Pizza baseball cap. They did their own little handshake.
"Another quarter. That makes two dollars and fifty cents," the red ranger said placing another quarter in Josh's hand.
"Awesome!" Josh said.
Fran and RJ looked over from boxing up a pizza. Fran was multitasking—grinding some pepper up over the pizza at the same time.
"You know, the right choice feels so much better than the easy choice," Josh stated.
Casey nodded his head proud that the words he had said to Josh earlier in the day had stuck with him.
"I want a helper!" Lily remarked appearing out of nowhere at Theo's side.
"Me too!" Theo added.
"I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," Josh said matter-of-factly.
"You're talking to Casey!" Lily exclaimed.
"Casey's not a stranger. He's my friend."
"Yeah, well if you're not supposed to talk to strangers, then why are you talking to us?" Theo questioned.
"Only to tell you that I'm not supposed to talk to you."
Casey, Fran, and RJ did everything they could to suppress their laughter. Thanks to Josh, that feat was looking more and more impossible by the second.
"Well, in that case, I'm Lily."
"I'm Theo."
"I'm—not cleaning your tables," Josh replied.
At this point, Fran and RJ couldn't keep their laughter in any longer, and started to crack up, drawing the attention of their clientele.
"Josh, hold out your hand," Casey instructed.
Josh held out his hand, and Casey gave Josh another quarter.
"Casey, don't encourage him!" Lily exclaimed.
"Sweet! Now I'm up to two dollars and seventy-five cents!"
"Wait, so how is us asking you to clean tables any different than Casey asking you to clean tables?" Theo asked.
Josh made a pincer like grip with his hands, and made a motion like he was zipping his lips.
"Okay, so you weren't kidding! You literally meant you're not going to talk to us!" Theo said in disbelief.
"He's making up a debt to me. I told him I'd give him a quarter a table. If and when he gets to five dollars, I told him I'd let him keep the money and the kite that he used five dollars of my money that he stole from me to buy," Casey explained.
"What if he doesn't get to five dollars?" Lily pondered.
"Well, he still gets to keep how ever much money he makes," Casey answered.
As their shift progressed, Lily couldn't help but notice how smug Casey looked reclining in a chair with his hands behind his head. Josh was cleaning his tables for him, and he just sat there doing nothing while she had to clean up her own tables. She wanted nothing else but to go over there and smack that smug look off his face.
When it was all said and done, Josh ended up making ten dollars—twice the amount he owed Casey. Thus, he got to keep the kite, although he would probably want to buy a new one since the old one was all slimy. With the ten dollars he made, he could buy two new kites if he wanted to. The most important thing Josh got today though was a new friend, Casey.
The End
