"Life on a ship is great, he says. Plundering, pillaging, all great fun." I mumbled, "Not a bit of that yet. All I do is clean the decks and cook."

The life of Lillith Sparrow is not exactly what you'd call fun. My father, Jack Sparrow, no longer a captain, convinced me to run off from my parents and call him my father. "Live as a pirate, love." he said, "It's grand."

All he wanted me for was to clean his ship and cook for his crew. I plan on running away eventually. I just want to lull him into a false sense of security, and then take the "treasure" with me.

The "treasure" is just a necklace. It's not worth much, or he would've sold it ages ago when he needed a new ship. Maybe it belonged to his wife or something. Anyway, I'm taking it, and I'm going to run. I'll wait a month longer, then I'm off.

Sparrow is not my actual last name. My real last name is Turner. My real parents are William and Elizabeth Turner. My real father is the captain of the Flying Dutchman. He's only allowed to come ashore once every 10 years. I'm their second child. My older brother, William Turner III, is a ship-builder's apprentice. My younger brother, Jonathan, who is just turning 10 this year, wants to become a pirate. I can tell him now that it's not as fun as it seems.

I've never complained to Jack about anything. I've always figured that if I did, he'd be angry. He took it as a sign that I hadn't taken after either of my parents. "You're nothing like your mum." he said, "Whining about EVERYTHING. Your father was about the same."

"What father." I'd say, "You're my father now."

I've become a good friend of one of the crew. His name's James. They tend to call him Skinny though. He's convinced that I'm going to come with him when he runs off from the pirates. If only he knew. They're going to kick him off at our next stop. He's not such a good worker, and he whines about everything. "We only put up with whiners when they're our cargo." Jack said once.

James is in love with me. "Can I blame him?" Jack said, "You're a pretty girl, love. If you weren't my daughter, I'd love you as well."

I hate to burst his bubble that I'm not really his daughter. His father, Captain Teague, told him that if he didn't have a child to keep up the "family business", he'd come back to haunt him. I'm not really his child, but it seems to ward of the living Captain Teague when he says, "This is my daughter, Lillith."

I have almost none of my family's features except my father's eyes. That's the only similarity to my family at all. I have darkly tanned skin, a few freckles, and red-blonde hair. Mum's hair is blonde, and dad's is brown. Neither have very darkly tanned skin either. I'm practically convinced that Jack really is my father. I look more like him than I do my mum.
