Starla squinted her eyes as she walked into the field. Behind her was a metal pink burnt ball with a yellow star on it. Starla stared at her self. Starla's back mess of curls were tied into a sloppy ponytail with some curls for bangs and curving around her face. A jean like jacket was wrapped around her waist, and covering her body was a purple dress with yellow and white stars on the bottom of the skirt of it.
"Where, am I?" She asked. Her throught felt dry. She felt around it, then looked at the yellow fields around her. Picking up the warm ball, she began her long trek to find some water.
Starla ate the raw corn as she continued trekking on and on and on. She had been going through the fields, with the occasional wood strips, and not seeing anything but plants. She decided to sleep under the shade of a tree in the glow of the sunset. She shivered, felt wet leaves wrap around her, and fell asleep.
In Starla's dream, they had her touch a potato battery to her stomach area. The potato began growing out of control and nerotoxin began filling the room Starla gagged and felt herself being dragged off by them.
The next morning, she woke up in the tree on a branch and felt that her ball was no longer by her. She needed it! It was her best friend! Why? She didn't exactly know. But she had to find it! "Buddy Ball!" She called.
"Over here!" A familiar gender nuetral voice called.
"Buddy Ball!" Starla found Buddy Ball by a river.
"Starla, those berries are safe to eat." Buddy Ball explained.
"The, um…"
"The ones that look the color of blue. The red ones are bad."
"Blue good, red bad?"
"Those red bad, but other reds are good."
"This is confusing…"
"Don't worry Starla, whatever happens, we'll go through this together."
Starla smiled at her only friend. She picked the darker berries and thanked the plant as she began to eat. "Are you sure you don't want any Buddy Ball?"
"No thank you Starla. You're the one who needs to eat."
"Well, if we get cake, we'll both eat alright?"
"Promise?"
"Of course!"
