A/N: Sequel to Formal Reservations.

A week later, Megan answered her door promptly, knowing who was on the other side.

"Hey, you ready to do this?" It was Sam, holding what looked like makeup, and a pretty black dress in her hands.

"How could I not? I've been thinking about it all week." Megan greeted, closing her apartment door.

Sam laughed setting everything on the table then looked around. "So I do get to see this dress don't I?"

Megan smiled, "Well eventually sooner or later you'll have to, since the ball is in…" She looked down at the watch on her hand. "Roughly two hours." Looking at the box of things, she couldn't help but crack a smile, "You're not thinking of using all that." She pointed around the closed silver box.

"Actually, not all of it."

"But close to it?" Megan guessed with a smile, making her way across the room and into the bathroom.

"It's essentials to any date, ball, whatever you want to call it."

"Not sure how to favor that one." She looked into the mirror, grabbing her mascara.

Sam laughed, pulling off the plastic covering from her dress. "So tell me then how do you plan looking tonight?" There was a slight pause, "Or in other words how do you think you should look tonight?"

Megan stepped out of the bathroom, one hand on the corner of the wall, her eyebrows raised. "You implying something that is going to happen?" She had a slight smirk in her expression.

Sam raised her eyebrows to mirror Megan's expression. "Why not?"

Megan sighed, "Point taken, thanks for the offer but I wasn't really planning on that."

"Come on" Sam persisted walking across the room. "You deserve to show yourself off every once in awhile."

Laughing, Megan went back in front of the mirror. "You do know who you're talking to."

"I do." Sam nodded, "A good friend who has worked so hard in her life, and really needs a day off."

Feigning surprise, Megan screwed the cap of the mascara back on. "I take time off."

Plugging the curler in to warm up, Sam shrugged. "I know that look. Working hard keeps us busy, keeps us occupied beyond belief, but it'll eventually catch up Megan." Sitting down on the edge of the tub, she added softly, "It did. Not only did I lose my husband but it took a definite toll on my body.

"Sam, come here." Megan gestured for Sam to follow her into her bedroom and situated her friend right in front of the mirror. "You know I see a very caring individual who enjoys what she does. And probably wouldn't have changed it for the world. But we do what we do even when it gets hard and we feel like quitting. Even if at that time we don't think that it's for the best."

Two hours later, both Sam and Megan arrived at the building where the fundraiser ball was being held. "So do they know that you're even coming?" Sam asked upon opening her door of the car.

"You know for once I turned off my phone." Megan laughed, grasping the bottom part of her silver dress.

"Amazing wonders." Sam teased. Her black dress fitting her frame perfectly, as her hair that was curled loosely in spirals, resting nicely against her back.

While Megan was dressed in beautiful silver dress, her hair up in tight curls and pinned up into a beautiful formation. Her green eyes were curved by her long eyelashes, and underlining eyeliner. Eyelids lightly brushed with a light pink.

"So are we ready to do this?" Sam added in, as they both got out of the car.

"Better late than never."
