Nightmare

****(Lacus' POV)****

The mobile suit lowered its hand to the ground.

Its pilot said: "Here you go princess."

I was led to the Akatsuki's hand.

"Come on, you too." A brunette said to her. She was about to walk to the giant hand. She stopped for a moment and looked to her left.

Then, I heard her say "Watch out!" The next sound I heard was a gunshot. She had fallen to the ground. I ran to her, calling her name.

"Meer!" I called her name endlessly, shocked at what had happened.

"What's wrong? Lacus, Calm down!" I heard a voice tell me

"You're alive?" I hold on tight to her, tears falling from my face, afraid of losing her again.

"Oh, Meer … I thought you were dead." I kissed her on her cheek.

"It was just a nightmare, Lacus. I'm still here. I'll always be here for you." She returned the kiss.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw what looked like a sniper ready to shoot.

"What's wrong now?" she asked.

As I heard the sound of the gun firing, I pushed Meer out of the way…

**** (Meer's POV) ****

I was shoved to the ground without warning. Then, I saw something that I hoped I never had to see.

"Lacus!"

She was on the floor, bleeding. Tears started to well up in my eyes. I saw her lift her arm, to hold me one last time. She whispered my name.

"Meer…"

At that moment, all strength had left her. Her outstretched hand fell; her eyes closed.

This was a joke.

I didn't just watch her die.

It was just a nightmare.

I'll wake up.

Finally, I gave in to the fact that she was dead. I would never awake from this horrible nightmare. I caressed her body, tears pouring freely down my face onto hers.

It was a living nightmare.
