This is just a one-shot I wanted to get out featuring some of my ancient characters I haven't picked up in four years.

The large absol paced in circles around the muggy cave floor. His claws tapped the floor with each step he took.

From a distance, a weavile looked onto the concerned beast. She dropped down from her ledge and took several steps forward. "Evening? Is everything all right?"

The absol paused walking and held his head up a little as if to speak, but shook his head and continued his pacing.

The weavile scowled at the white-furred beast. "Something's troubling you." She walked toward him and placed a clawed paw on his shoulder, finally getting his attention. "Evening, something's wrong. Tell me what it is."

The absol addressed as Evening looked around, as if there was someone watching them. He leaned into her long, feathery ear and whispered, "I think Peak may be trying to kill us."

The weavile widened her bright blue eyes. "But he's been so kind to us. He took us in when we needed refuge. Why would he want us dead?"

"I don't know, but he tried to get me killed the other day."

"What?!" The weavile's quiet yelp echoed through the cave walls. "What happened?"

The absol looked around for anyone watching them, then turned back to the weavile. "When I was hunting with the other beartic, Peak suggested that I'd go hunt near the tower. When I did, I nearly got my head chomped off in a watchog trap. That wasn't there before, and I remember Peak going out to a patrol in the same general area earlier that day."

The weavile furrowed her brows. "Do you think he was really trying to kill you?"

The absol focused on something behind the weavile and glowered. "That wasn't the only time, Echoes. I think he staged some incidents to look like accidents that I was able to detect and avoid." He exhaled a laugh. "It must be hard to kill an absol, we can foresee what will happen to us and dodge it like an arrow."

Echoes looked around. "What about the sneasels? Has he done anything to them?" She lowered her feathery ears. "Was Star's miscarry part of his doing?"

Evening shook his head. "Star's miscarry was probably from when we escaped the moor. I don't know, she wasn't born yet. But keep an eye on the others when I'm gone. The other beartic, especially Snowfall, might try to do something." He leaned into Echoes's ear. "Be prepared to run to the iron bird city if anything goes wrong. Once they make a bad move, get the sneasels, get out of here, and wait for me near the iron bird building. If I'm not with you in a week, go on without me and stay in the place where an iron bird leaves you. Stay near a healing center, I'll find you if I'm not dead. Make sure none of the sneasels get left behind."

Echoes nodded. "All right. I'll go find the sneasels."

The weavile speed-walked away, her cloak trailing behind her. The absol dashed toward the depths of the caves, preparing for a getaway when he needed it.

I hope you liked it. I am going to pick up these two and flesh out their backstory for you all. I am planning to release this... Eh, sometime before March. That sounds good. I promise it'll be before March starts.

I hope.

Okay, this thing will take a while... I know where I'm going, but don't know how to get there, if you know what I mean.

Sorry.
