Hi this is my first ffic. All characters belong to Stephenie Meyer, but the story is mine.
This is just the prologue to the story. I hope you enjoy it
Shadows of Dreamers
Prologue
It was the air on his face, the sand on his feet, and the musical sound of the waves on the shore. The burn in his lungs, his legs. The constant intake and exhale of air, that came through his nose and mouth. The mixture of components that made him run harder; ignore the constant dripping that wouldn't leave his ears. No change of scenery could expel the image from his brain, the memory deeply embodied. He had made up his mind to run until they left his soul or death came to take him. He thought that with her all would change, but he was deceived once again, made believe what didn't exist. He knew the story know, it would be years until he found another one, he may even be death and a part of the never ending circle of tormented souls, he would help them in their job of torture and hurt. Why couldn't they just leave him alone?
The pain of his muscles was almost unbearable, but he didn't dare to stop, frightened of what would happen if he did. She had known it all along, willing to sacrifice herself to escape the pain. He would do the same, if there was only a chance, an opportunity.
One look back was all it took to make him change his mind, they would follow him no matter how fast or long he ran, they would only be closer if death took him away. He thought he already knew this, that he had accepted it. It was amazing how just a couple of months could change his life. He had destroyed the only escape. With a painful sigh he came to a stop, raised his sight and turned around seeing the beautiful trail of footprints, beautiful because as they disappeared from sight you where left wondering where they were going, but he knew. He knew all to well. A silent drop of salted water marked a trail on his cheeks, before he could stop himself he was sobbing heavily to his hands. The dripping noise intensified, mixed with his labored breath, he wouldn't dare remember what the dripping implied, but an image of a dark red pool, and a face of the same color, kept tormenting him, it was the life of a human being. He had escaped it all his life, hiding, running from one city to another, transforming his personality and name, his whole identity. He had already forgotten his real name.
And then he heard what he dreaded the most; "Goodbye Edward" in a whisper which held the burden of death, but filled with a joy he longed for. In that instant he turned to the right. As the life giving strays of light raised from the horizon darkness absorbed his world, but not before he saw them creep beside the sun with a deathly smile he didn't knew they possessed. It was his eternal curse.
