Today's Society
There so much to do
So much to say
Before the end of each day
To stop and think
To rest and dream
Is all but a memory
There's a contest in the world
To have the greatest things ever told
Family and friends are just stepping stones
On a ladder that never ends
Greatness is determined by
What is touched instead of who or why
Never mind the heartache at home
Of the children whose parents are always gone
Soon there will be a day
When every last breath will come and pass
All the touchable, tangible things
Will fade to black
And upon looking back
Will there be tears of joy
Or tears of pain
All the gold of the earth
Will not heal the hurt
Only love, faith, and trust
In God above
Can shine through the dark
And mend this worlds broken heart
