Joe's Story

The fight had been friendly and fair.
Some men at the bar and some in chairs.

Their leader, Sam, surveyed the group.
A rough and rowdy good-hearted troop.

Looking at the man lying below
Sam told us "This here is my kid brother Joe."

An assist to his feet and we saw the fellow,
Who'd capture our hearts with his manner so mellow.

We found that he's a darn good cowboy.
Riding and roping are things he enjoys.

He's a good backup if there's a fight.
He shoots when he has to, when he knows he's right.

His eyes are as dark as Sam's are light.
They make us wonder what secrets they hide.

His concern for his brother shows in his face.
If it came down to it, he'd die in his place.

In Sam's absence, he makes a good leader.
His respect for the men shows in his demeanor.

He's strong and quiet and slightly brooding.
His face shows pleasure when things are amusing.

He can be ornery once in a while.
Ask his friend Kilroy about the reptile.

Sultry, sexy, and lots of attraction.
For his lovelife, we don't see much action.

No disrespect I intend with this.
Does that mustache tickle her when you kiss?
