Chapter one: A monster in the closet

It was raining, hard. Lightning flashed across the sky, lighting up the night sky. Legolas Thranduilion Greenleaf sat at his desk, looking over some papers by candle-light. The candle was considerably small, while the stack of papers he was looking over was reasonably large. He sighed heavily, passing a hand over his face.

Then, the door opened. Legolas suppressed a huge yawn as Seremela, the oldest girl, came in. "It's Lista." She sighed. "Oh no." Legolas said, smiling. Seremela smiled. "She thinks there is a monster in her closet." She sighed. "Last time it was a giant spider." He said. "And it was a warg the time before that." "And the time before that it was Saruman." Legolas said darkly. Seremela sighed. "I don't know were she gets all these ideas from, but I suppose we can blame Orelinde, seeing that he tells Lista a story every night before she goes to bed." Seremela told him. Legolas frowned. "I'll have to replace our current storyteller before tomorrow evening." He said. "He'll hate you." Legolas shrugged. "Ada is on business and Naneth is in Lorien. As a result, I am in charge of you all, since I'm the oldest." He replied. "Now, let's go see about this closet monster." He added.

Lista was standing in the hall, not far her room, when Legolas and Seremela found her. Her blonde hair was tousled, her blue eyes wide with fear. "What's it this time, Lista?" Legolas asked. "Sauron." She whispered. Legolas stood up. "Cover your ears, this might be loud." Legolas said. Then, with every bit of strength in his body, he yelled: "Orelinde Thranduilion Greenleaf!" Seremela shook her head. "You could have dragged him out of bed by his hair, Legolas Thranduilion." She sighed. Legolas smirked. "I know." He laughed. "But this is better."

Orelinde was extremely embarrassed, and equally angry, when Legolas woke him. "What did you wake me for?!" he yelled. "Well, first 'Saruman' was in her closet, then a 'warg, then a 'giant spider', and this time its 'Sauron!' What kind of stories are you telling her, Orelinde Thranduilion!?" Legolas screamed. "Just stories. She must have overheard you talking to Maeglin about those things." Orelinde mumbled. "Overheard! I always make sure none of the younger ones are around when I discuss those sorts of things!" Legolas yelled. "Come on Lista, I'll show you this Sauron doesn't even exist." Orelinde sighed. "But, you told me that you can't see Sauron, Ore." Lista said. "Orelinde Thranduilion Greenleaf!" Legolas and Seremela screamed. Orelinde bolted and Legolas raced after him.
