Never Let Her Go

His hands are covered in blood.

Red. Sticky. Blood.

It's not his own. He would give anything - everything - for it to be his, but it's not and he blinks away the tears that came to his eyes because the thought of losing her made his heart break.

He grabs a piece of cloth he finds in the suitcase in the back of her ship, making sure he doesn't leave her side for too long. He presses it to the wound on her abdomen and puts her hands above it, "Keep pressure on this, okay?"

She simply nods and smiles - she has no strength to talk. He goes around the ship once more, looking for something that could help him help her. He needs her. He can't let her die. He can't. He goes through some odd shaped cabinets and closets and soon enough he's been through the whole ship twice and found nothing.

He wants to scream and to shout and to punch something.

"You don't have to worry this much.", she says, her voice hoarse and weak; her eyes settled on his once he comes and sits by her side, "I told you about my dad. The Time Lords. What we can do.", he puts his hand on hers, squeezing it tightly, "I regenerate. I'll be okay."

He knows that - he knows everything. And also he just knows he's going insane; he knew this crazy blond girl for less than a week and he already fell in love with her.

"I know,", he says and just tightens his grip on her hand, "but I don't want to lose you. Not even for a second."

She looks at him, her eyes starting to close, "Jethro, trust me." she says, her head starting to slightly shake, "Everything'll be alright. Let. me. die."

"No."

"Trust me."

He does, so he just sits next to her on the floor - no matter how hard is is to do absolutely nothing - and grabs her hand, holding it tight, "I love you.", he says and he has no idea why he just said it, but it's the truth and he did and that's it, "I know you for less than a week and I'm already in love with you."

"I love you, too, Jethro.", she says, her voice low, but he can still hear her.

And so she dies.

He never wants to go through that again.

(Hours later, when she's up on her feet and controling the ship, a bright smile on her face, it's like nothing happened; like it was a bad dream he had.

He knows better.

Losing her is something he definitely does not want to go through. He can't lose her again. Ever.

"Marry me.", he speaks and she just looks at him, the smile on her face growing bigger.

"Always."

He won't let her go again.)
