A/N: I only support the pre-Gracia RoyXHughes, because there's no doubt that Maes loved his wife.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemst or any of its characters, because if I did, this is what would have happened during Roy and Hughes' cadet days before Gracia came.
Books
Books, books, and more books. His roommate was always reading a book. Sometimes he wondered if his roommate even slept, because when he went to sleep there was still a light on and his roommate was still reading. Sometimes he'd wake up to find the light still on and his roommate reading again. It was always a book to do with alchemy. How the hell his roommate understood any of those symbols was beyond him. Sometimes it annoyed him. Roy Mustang was his roommate's name, a name which always found its way to his lips.
He had walked in to find Roy reading again. He had enough. "Roy."
"Mmm, Maes?" was the response he received. Roy hadn't even looked up from the book.
Maes stomped over to Roy's bed and jerked the book out of his hands.
"Hey!" Roy looked up at him, brows knitted together. "Give it back, Hughes."
"Why the hell do you read these all time anyways?"
"I'm studying to be an alchemist, a scientist. It's what we do." He tried grabbing the book from Maes, but Maes moved the book behind his back and Roy fell onto Mae's chest.
Roy unconsciously rubbed his cheek against Maes' cadet uniform and then jerked to a sitting position on his bed. Roy turned his head so Maes wouldn't see the red that sneaking to his cheeks. "Hughes."
"No, Roy, why don't you get out and find yourself someone?"
"You really think I read all the time. Haven't you noticed the fact that I haven't changed books but twice the last couple of weeks?"
"So, you're saying you're a slow reader?"
"No, I haven't really been reading."
"You always have your nose in a book."
"And when you're not looking, my eyes areā¦on you."
Maes smiled. He crashed his lips against Roy's lips.
Roy wrapped his arms around Maes' neck and pulled him down. They fell in a passionate entanglement onto Roy's bed. Clothes were thrown off hastily in attempt to get to soft skin underneath. Kisses and innocence were exchanged. The night ended with lethargic and exhausted I love you's and for once, the book lay forgotten on the floor.
