One of those random ideas that pop into your head right as the Ravens are about to beat the Titans. You know what I mean? Actually, it's just one of those alternate versions of Rise Up.
"I don't know you…at all."
It may have taken her a moment, but when the words finally registered in her mind Callie's first reaction was to stop breathing. Which actually didn't last very long because she then remembered that breathing is what keeps you alive. Part two of her first reaction was to continue breathing, so as to keep herself alive.
Her second reaction was to shout. "No,"
Erica stopped, and then flinched. She didn't turn around to take a look at Callie, but she was still listening.
"No," It was a simple word. Two letters.
This time, Erica did turn around, and if it hadn't been dark outside, her red eyes would be visible. She pushed her eyes aside and flared her nostrils, waiting for Callie to speak again.
"Doctor Erica Hahn knows everything," Callie said, actually quoting something said doctor had joked about only weeks prior to their current conversation.
The surgeon that supposedly knows everything bit her tongue in order to stop herself from laughing. This was not a laughing moment. However, she did let herself walk back towards Callie, because it would just look incredibly stupid if they were yelling across the parking lot.
"You know everything. And I'll be damned if I'm not a part of that everything."
Removing her sunken teeth from her tongue, she spoke: "I thought I could always count on you to be there for me. I was obviously wrong."
"You never gave me a chance! You just walked away!" Callie said, using her arms to add emphasis.
"You sided with Izzie Stevens! Izzie Stevens!" Erica yelled back.
Callie lowered her voice due the attention they were now getting. "You wanted to report her and the hospital to UNOS. Not only would you be ruining her career, but you would be ruining mine and everyone else who works here. The hospital would be shut down. I'm not a world-class surgeon, I'm still in my residency. If this hospital closes, it will be harder for me to find a job." she drew in a breath of air before continuing. "I think I'm the one who should be saying I don't know you,"
Of all the things Callie could have said, Erica was not expecting that. She mentally slapped herself from being shocked at this, because in reality, Callie had all rights to say that.
"You're right," Erica said, mindlessly nodding her head.
"I know," Callie smirked.
"I think now we both can agree on one thing: this, our relationship, was a big mist-"
Rolling her eyes, Callie embraced the other doctor, pressing her lips intensely to hers. Erica was even more shocked than before, because this was definitely not expected.
"But it's not like you were wrong, either." Callie said, shrugging.
...And a pretty crappy alternate version if I say so myself.
