Clouds
Laying on his back, Shikamaru ignores all else as he silently, and contently, watches the clouds as they pass by him in clutters, moving sluggishly and lazily as if mimicking the brunette boy watching them through equally lazy, half-lidded eyes.
The sound of rustling paper sounds along with the familiar crunch of chips, and soon Shikamaru finds himself with company. Giving his best friend a half-smile, because he is too tired to do more then that, Shikamaru turns back to his cloud watching as Choji quietly points out the shape of some of the clouds. After a moment, Shikamaru finds himself adding comments, and soon this is blown out into a full out conversation.
Smiling at this, Shikamaru closes his eyes and savors it for a moment: the sound of rustling paper and crunching chips, the sweet scent of daffodils and barbecue chips and the soft, deep, rumbling mummer of their conversation, one that neither expected or demanded. Just the deep, quiet, rumbling voice pointing out that the cloud to the right looks like doe, and that the one to the left looks like Rock Lee's eyebrows.
Shikamaru's solitude is broken at the sound of his mother's voice—shrill, irritated and demanding his attention—calling him in for dinner.
Choji follows his slouched form with a grin, off to have dinner with the Nara's for the fourth time that week.
Friends, Shikamaru decides, aren't that troublesome.
Boyfriends on the other hand, Shikamaru decides the next day as he's tackled by Naruto, are a handful.
