AN: The Coldplay song "Yellow" really reminded me of Demyx/Xigbar for some reason (maybe because of the line about writing a song) so I wrote this and stole a lot of the dialogue from the song. It's a bit awkward because the song's poetic and people don't talk in poetic language, but I could really picture the scene and it's been in my head for a while so here it is. Enjoy!
"Look at the stars, Xig, look how they shine for you," said the Nocturne pointing up at the sky with the arm that was not pressed against the Freeshooter's side.
"Shine for us, you mean," said Xigbar squeezing Demyx's shoulders with his arm.
"Looking down on everything you do. They're all so yellow," sighed the blond.
"You're in a funny mood tonight, Dem," laughed Xigbar.
Perched on the roof looking out over the World That Never Was, the two nobodies sat gazing at the stars. It was the new moon so the night was darker than usual and it was almost cold, but Demyx was nestled against Xigbar's chest where no chill could reach him.
"Remember when I came along? When I joined the Organization?" he asked.
"How could I forget? I was the one who brought you here."
"I know. I was so lost before you found me, Xiggy." Demyx peered up into the older man's face, seeing the yellow stars reflected in his one eye. "I wrote a song for you," he said.
"Really, what about?" asked Xigbar, trying to hide how much this pleased him.
"All the things you do," Demyx shrugged. "It was called "Yellow;" I'm not really sure why."
Xigbar shook his head, staring at his strange little lover.
"Dem."
"In this light your skin turns into something beautiful," mused Demyx, tracing a finger along the scar on Xigbar's cheek.
"You know I love you so," sighed the older man.
Demyx blushed in the dark.
"You've made everything so different, Dem. It's like I swam across something or maybe I jumped across for you. And now we're somewhere so- so perfect. After…" he struggled for a word to define what had happened to them both, "I never thought I'd be happy again. That whole heartless thing Xemnas is always harping on about, I guess it took hold in my mind because I thought it was all over in a way and then there you were and I found myself someplace totally new and so… amazing."
"Xiggy."
Xigbar gently ran his fingers over the Nocturne's star-lit face.
"The things you do," Demyx giggled.
"What about them?"
Demyx just shook his head.
"I drew a line from you," said the blond slowly, trying to put this thoughts into words. "Everything was such a mess, no order, no anything, and then you. Something a hold into in all this." He gestured around to show the broken world of a nobody. "A life line, bright and yellow."
"Well, I'm glad I could help you, Dem," said Xigbar. He watched the slight blonde gazing up at the yellow sparks scattered across the sky, glimmering in his blue eyes and turning him into something beautiful – well more beautiful. "You know for you I'd bleed myself dry," he said vaguely without thinking.
"Xig! What a thing to do. What do you mean?" asked Demyx sitting up in alarm.
"Nothing," Xigbar shrugged not having meant to upset his love. "I just-," he sighed. "I'd never let anything hurt you."
"I know," said Demyx as he settled back against Xigbar's chest.
It's true, thought Xigbar. I'd do anything for him.
"Look how they shine, Dem. It's so beautiful. Look at the stars; look how they shine for you."
