A/N: Hey guys! This is an idea that randomly popped into my head yesterday and I wrote it almost immediately :D I wanted to submit this for a poetry recital competition but as it turns out it was too difficult to explain with context and all that, so I didn't end up doing it, but I'm still kind of proud of writing it in such a short time and so, here you are :P Enjoy, and leave a review if you like it!

I saw the Monster of the Moon

Curse it to make it fall on the town,

It's yellow eyes bored into me, and as I searched them for a shade of remorse or compassion,

I saw only madness and a desire for destruction.

I ran aimlessly around the cursed town,

To stop the moon, the falling moon,

Whose face never changed,

Always staring at the town with those unblinking yellow eyes,

The same ones that the Monster had

It seemed that no matter where I went

Those eyes followed me.

I raced against time itself

To stop the moon, the falling moon

Every note I played on my ocarina warped me and the world back to the past,

Trapped in an endless 3-day cycle,

I look around at the town and asked myself

Will these people even remember me?

I battled vicious creatures

To stop the moon, the falling moon

Every battle wore me down, every wound sustained was a reminder,

That I had a duty to the cursed town, as the Hero of Time.

I slew monsters of every kind

To protect the people who wouldn't remember me.

I cured people's sorrows

To stop the moon, the falling moon

The masks they gave me in thanks were symbols of their life, and they told me their tales,

Tales of anger, bargaining, and despair

In collecting the masks, the mask I constructed to stop myself from collapsing

Became more rigid than any other mask I had collected.

With the power of the masks, I became a God

To stop the moon, the falling moon,

The Fierce Deity was adamant that I surrender control to him,

His bloodlust for the monster of the Moon was uncontrollable

In making his power my own, I lost a part of myself,

My body no longer mine to command, my sanity all but consumed.

With the power of the Deity,

I stopped the moon, the falling moon

Its face vanished into oblivion, its Monster decimated.

I wandered the town one final time, glancing at the people I saved.

Not one remembered who I was, no one knew what I did.

I saved the town from the falling moon but had no one to save me from falling into madness.
