This is more of a drabble than anything. I wanted to write something on the relationship between Hikaru and Kaoru, and this was what came out. Listening to "Your Guardian Angel" by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was mostly what prompted me. The phrases in italics are words from the song that I thought fit.

Again, I do not own OHSHC. Don't sue me. Kthxbye.

I will never let you fall.

Hikaru gazed at the sleeping form of his twin silhouetted against the dim early morning light filtering through their bedroom window. His eyes traced the contours of his body; the sharp edges of his shoulder blades, the soft, barely noticeable curve of a hip half-covered by the blanket. The wisps of auburn hair fanned out on the pillow that tickled his forehead as he inched just a bit closer.

Kaoru turned in his sleep, stretching out beneath the thin bed covering and resting a slender hand on his bare stomach.

I'll stand up with you forever.

Hikaru breathed a small sigh, reaching out to lace his fingers with Kaoru's. Did he have any idea, any at all, how much he meant to him?

They were born together.

From early on, it had been just the two of them. Always, just the two of them.

Hikaru couldn't help but feel that it was all about to change. A deep, heavy sadness settled in the pit of his stomach at the thought.

Things were changing.

They were growing older.

They both knew they couldn't stay as one forever.

Hikaru squeezed his eyes shut tight against the familiar warmth of unwelcome tears, instinctively drawing his brother's sleeping body closer to his.

Kaoru stirred only slightly, the arm that had been draped across his abdomen curling around his brother's waist. Hikaru buried his face in his hair as his twin's lips pressed to the base of his throat.

Seasons are changing.

Waves are crashing.

Stars are falling, all for us ..

"Ne, Hikaru?"

Hikaru's heart skipped a beat at the sound.

"Nanimo nai," he whispered, his fingers tracing soft patterns on the nape of Kaoru's neck. "I just can't sleep."

Kaoru yawned, and the warmth of his breath on Hikaru's skin made him shiver. "You need to stop watching horror movies before bed, then. You know they give you nightmares."

Please tell me you'll stay.

A smile brushed Hikaru's lips. "I'll remember next time."

Kaoru snuggled closer and pressed a kiss to his brother's shoulder. It seemed that a bit of that previous sadness had lifted. Just a bit.

For now, they were Hikaru and Kaoru. They were one. And no one could take that away.

I will never let you fall.

I'll stand up with you forever.

I'll be there for you through it all.

Even if saving you sends me to heaven.
