Lily is methodical. She plans and collects and reassesses until she is utterly sure she has everything correct, and then she acts. She has planed her life, every day, every step what she will do and who she will be. She refuses to throw her carefully crafted promise away for a momentary desire or flight of fancy. To her James Potter is a loss, something she cannot afford and should not want.

James is spontaneous. He's all over the place, flitting from one great idea to another. He doesn't wonder or worry about the next big prank; he has friends to do that for him, all he needs to do is lay back and enjoy the flash of inspiration. He lives in a constant state of euphoria and blissful carelessness, lazy in the way of the world and the world loves him for it.

The only thing James has persuaded constantly has been Lily. When his love of pranks has waned his love of Lily has grown stronger and when his love of Quidditch has grown his love for Lily has remained constant.

There has only been one thing Lily has not planed, had not thought to protect herself against and that was a crocked smiled young man with ridiculously messy hair who would not take no for an answer.

And by all accounts they are very happy with each other.
