He stared, the smile playing across his lips doing just that, and nothing more. His body didn't move, his mind was an empty slate. He simply stared.
The lone light in the dark alley seemed to wage a losing battle against the night. It flickered once…then twice, then seemed to stay steady with some measure of uncertainty to it.
Light Yagami's breathing was harsh, and his heartbeat was so loud he was sure he could'nt stay hidden much longer.
"No! NOOOOOOOOO-"
The sound of clothes being ripped apart seemed to follow. A big, burly beast of a man, whose face was concealed under his hood seemed to laugh. Light Yagami stared, wide eyed. The woman, who was about to scream, abruptly stopped and whimpered instead, as she saw the man produce a knife.
Ryuk's eyes were on none but Yagami.
As the young boy witnessed the unspeakable, his mind seemed blank as a slate, somehow.
He stared, the smile playing across his lips doing just that, and nothing more. His body didn't move, his mind was an empty slate. He simply stared.
Ryuk awoke.
The light flickered one last time before dying.
Ryuk watched, emotionless as Yagami lay gasping raggedly. His breathing was pained, eyes closed, moist with tears. Blood caked his visage, the bullet wound the epicenter.
"Is this it?"
Light looked up at him. His expression gave nothing but pain away, but Ryuk thought he could sense the scent of fear.
"Beaten by a child…"
'I am…Justice!'
'Raye Penber…' Ryuk felt the knife's cold edge.
'L…L…L…'
Ryuk stalked the corner slowly. There was a sense of inexorable destruction. Nothing…nothing could stop the Death Note…
Ryuk felt the material of the silencer.
Light Yagami's pen flew across the Death Note.
Ryuk killed.
As Yagami Light's breathing slowly started slowing down, a cloudy sense of satisfaction seemed to make it's way across his face.
'Those who use the Death Note can neither go to heaven nor hell.'
'…Death…Note…'
Dusk seemed to come slightly early. There was the faint smell of smoke in the air, and the far-away sound of a siren. Across the roof, he could see the hint of darkness creep up. In the deserted warehouse, the lone light flickered one last time before dying.
For the first time, Ryuk smiled as he too, faded away with Light's heartbeat.
For he was, after all, only a figment of Light Yagami's imagination.
End. I do realize that Ryuk is OOC, but it was meant to be that way. This is rather short and probably confusing, and aimed at relieving a little writer's block.
