"I'm pregnant." Iggy said.

"What?!" The whole flock starred, open mouthed at him.

"Are you deaf or something? I said I'm pregnant."

"We heard!" Maximum protested. "It's just… that you are a boy, so how can you be pregnant?"

"Well..." Iggy walked to the center of the living room. "Not exactly pregnant… I am… egg-pregnant. I felt it today. At least three eggs down here, inside my belly."

Nudge was the first one to talk. "Awwn! That's too cute! Are you going to be a mommy? That would be awkward. You would be a daddy, then? That's cool. You said you felt three eggs? That's a bunch! So you're going to have three babies? Or birds? You think you can have birds instead of babies? That would be awkward, too. But then we are half-bird mutants, so it would be okay. Would you feed them worms, 'cause that'd be disgusting, I mean eww! But we can't help it, I guess. Um, you are going to lay them? Ain't that gonna be painful? It sure will! Can I take pictures? That'd be so cool, Iggy!"

"Stop!" Max ordered her. She knew she could go on like that forever. She frowned and looked at his blonde friend. "First things first. Who is the father?"

Iggy grinned crookedly. "You remember my sweet little boyfriend, Fang, right?"

Fang was sitting in a corner, silent as always. His dark, long hair covered his eyes. He said nothing.

"Fang's the father?!" Max couldn't believe it. But Gazzy could.

"That means you two…?" Gasman made a face as realization hit him. "Gross!"

Max shook his head. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening. "Okay… this is weird. Just when I thought we couldn't get weirder."

"I can breathe under water! And read people's mind and all sort of creepy mutant things!" Angel chimed in, But Max ignored her.

"What are we going to do? I mean, you, what are you going to do?" She glanced at Iggy, then at Fang, but he looked like he was far, far away.

Iggy only shrugged. "What's there to do? I'll keep him, of course."

"This is a big responsibility, you know that, Ig. Besides… what if your baby is not what you expect? Nudge is right. It could be birds, or a regular baby, or a mutant just like us. It could go wrong, like those other experiments back at the School. And you are a boy, for God's sake! No way you are pregnant, Ig. I mean… it's possible, but… face it, it could be just eggs."

Iggy frowned. "Chill, Max. You may be the leader, but this is my life, and you won't tell what to do." That said, he stormed out of the room, and jumped out of the hallway window, raising fast above the trees, white wings fully out-stretched.

Five hours later, it was dark outside, and Gasman, Angel and Nudge were asleep.

"Hey, Fang, mind if we talk?" Max asked him, sitting right beside him on the couch.

"Actually, I do." Fang's expression was unreadable.

"C'mon, Fang. It's important… You know that."

He shrugged, avoiding eye contact with her. Max rolled his eyes. "Don't be such a baby. You're going to be a dad, soon."

Fang was silent. Had she said the wrong thing again? "Iggy left a few hours ago… and he is not back yet. Think something happened to him?" She bit her lip. She was really worried.

"He's okay." Fang muttered. "And he is right, Maximum. Stay out of this."

Max made an attempt to retort, but Fang was quickly out of sight, locking himself up in his room. Which was her room, also. She wanted to scream. What was the matter with people today? She shook her head. She couldn't believe she would have to sleep on the couch because of Fang.

She was going to have a serious chat with them tomorrow. If Iggy was back by tomorrow.
