He looked down at Winry with a loving smile crossing his lips. She lay in bed, cradled by the down feather mattress, smiling at him softly with tired eyes.
He had helped with it before when he and Al had been just children, but it was a lot different when you were the one who was primarily responsible for it.
She slowly closed her eyes, exhaustion finally settling in. He caringly stroked her face with his left hand and whispered quietly, "Your best work yet."
She barely nodded as she slipped into sleep's gentle embrace. Ed stepped back and looked over to the cradle resting beside the bed, and smiled to himself as he watched his first born child, only hours old, sleep as peacefully as Winry.
