A/N: Initially I'd wanted to make this a longer story… maybe someday I'll do that.
Summary: A change of setting can sometimes finally be the breaking point.
Their parents had brought them there for bonding time. Brooke and Mike in one room, Sam and Jane in a second adjoining one. It was supposed to help them bond separately and together. It had been kind of fun, and their parents had thought it a success because they'd left the girls alone and gone to dinner.
Sam sat in the corner of the balcony, looking out across the foreign city.
"You look sad." Brooke had appeared out on the balcony of her own room. Sam set sad eyes on her.
"I'm so tired of fighting it, Brooke." She stood, resting her hands on the railing and bracing against it. "I'm tired of hiding. I think I'll die if I don't tell you." Watery eyes found confused hazel ones, a breath almost missed in the quiet night as they closed at her own words. "I love you." And then Brooke was gone, disappeared into the depths of her own room, bringing Sam's fear to life.
"What did you just say?" Brooke's voice reached her ears before she had time to register the sound of the door that joined their rooms opening. Sam spun, shocked to find the blonde so close. A mere few feet away, on the same balcony.
"Please don't make me say it again." And Brooke didn't. Instead closed the distance between herself and a worn, scared looking Sam and gave the brunette everything she'd ever wanted in a kiss that was more than anything she'd ever dreamed.
