Act of Kindness
I don't own YuGiOh either, sorry.
She could have been worse off, much worse. When the alarms sounded she had enough time to pull a pair of jeans on under her nightgown, grab her purse and find an exit. Sure she had no coat and was barefoot in the snow, but that was better then being trapped in the fire now racing through the hotel.
And some people obviously had less warning then she did. Like the two guys in the room next to her, who were in town for that Duel Monsters tournament. They had managed to save their duel disks, decks and not much else. The tall blond was in boxers and a tee shirt, his friend, almost unrecognizable with his hair hanging wetly down his back, was in jeans with a hotel towel across his shoulders and that huge pendant STILL around his neck.
"I thought hotels are supposed to have sprinklers and things?!" The blond half yelled half grumbled. His friend tried to answer but his teeth were too busy chattering.
"Not if they were built before the laws passed." She replied. "Sometimes the older buildings are exempt." Her hands burrowed into her pockets seeking warmth. Over the wail of sirens, the roar of the fire and the POP! POP! POP! of shattering windows, she could hear a faint chiming like coins jingling or…….
Keys? Car keys YES!! " I'm going to my car. You guys want to come in and get warm?
"Ye-CHOO!!" Was the blonds answer. His friend nodded frantically, teeth still chattering viciously.
It took a bit of doing what with having to dodge around emergency vehicles and crowds of onlookers, but eventually they were inside her bruised and battered '92 mustang, heater turned to max. Pendant guy hunched close to the heater vents trying to dry his hair.
" Thank you. Thank you so much." His voice was deeper then she expected once he got it back. His eyes had an odd reddish tint, irritated by the smoke perhaps?
"No problem. I'm Lynn by the way."
"Yugi. My friend is Jonouchi."
"Great to meet cha Lynn! Oh MAN look at how fast it's spreading! Good thing I'm such a light sleeper."
"Jonouchi…"
"Yeah Yuge?"
"You slept through the alarm."
"Oh…..Right….."
Three weeks later, Lynn received a very nice thank you note along with two not yet released structure decks for her kids and two autographed promotional cards with a pair of familiar faces on them.
"Yugi Mutou and Katsuya Jonouchi. Guess those guys are kind of famous."
The End
"a/n: Since the cards Lynn received would be English Language versions, I put given names first, family names second since that's how they would appear in English.
