Jackie's Mister
"Do you like my pencil Miss Masters?" Jasmine asked her teacher excitedly.
"Yes I do, that's very pretty Jasmine, who gave it to you?" Her teacher asked.
"My mommy's mister."
"Your mommy's mister?" Miss Masters asked her trying to hide the shock in her voice.
"Yeah." Jasmine insisted.
She didn't say anything more to Jasmine but Lisa Masters was floored. Jackie was one of her best friends and fellow first grade teachers, Jackie seemed like the last person on earth who would have a mister, she was happily married and had one of the best husbands that Lisa had ever seen, why on earth would she jeopardize her marriage for a mister and even if she did Lisa found it almost impossible to believe that she'd involve her kids.
She made a mental note to ask Jackie about it later.
When recess rolled around Sue Anderson took the kids outside and as soon as the kids were gone Lisa went over into Jackie's classroom.
"Hey, how's it going?" Jackie asked her.
"Good, listen Jackie, I'm going to ask you something, it's completely none of my business but I have to ask anyways." Lisa told her.
"Ok, what's going on?"
"Well you know that new pencil Jasmine has?"
"The silver sparkly one?" Jackie asked her.
"Yeah."
"Yeah what about it?" Jackie asked confusedly.
"Who gave that to her?"
"My mentor, she gave each of the kids something when we went to that conference in my hometown last week. I swear that woman is like another grandmother to my kids, as if they don't get spoiled enough by their actual two grandmothers." Jackie said with a chuckle.
Lisa burst out laughing.
"What's so funny?" Jackie asked with a smile.
Lisa told her what Jasmine had said earlier and then both women started howling.
"I love Jane dearly and I consider her a lot of things, but that's not one of them." Jackie assured her.
"Well that positively made my day, that was the hardest I've ever laughed about anything, and on that note I'm going to go get some prep done before the kids come back. I'll see you later." Lisa said as she walked out of Jackie's room.
"See you later." Jackie told her.
Jackie chuckled and shook her head, kids never failed to amaze her.
The End!
