A/N: This is for the Book Thief Quotes Competition.

Quote: "Somewhere, far down, there was an itch in his heart, but he made it a point not to scratch it. He was afraid of what might come leaking out."

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, or that quote from The Book Thief.

A Piece of a Whole

George clutched his heart. It was happening again. It was like phantom limb pain, when you lost a part of you but still felt it… after all, Fred was practically a part of him.

George gasped for air, as he felt tears rushing down his face. He clenched his teeth, trying to stop the pain, even though he knew that it wouldn't help stop it.

"AAK!" he screamed, trying to get that feeling out of him.

Somewhere, far down, there was an itch in his heart, but he made it a point not to scratch it. He was afraid of what might come leaking out.

He sobbed. Why wouldn't this pain go away? It had already been two month since Fred had died. Why wouldn't that itch in his heart go away?

Although he asked himself this, he knew the answer.

It was because… without Fred, he was only a piece of a whole.

A/N: I know, short, short fic. I hope you enjoyed anyways. Review!
