To Consume Blood

There's blood in his body. He knows because it leaves through his cuts and mouth, choking him and filling his lungs until he knows he should be dead.

But he doesn't die, and for a second he wishes he had. Then the desire is forgotten and he becomes what he fears. He fears death, so he kills his old self. He fears ghouls, so he becomes one.

The only way to get rid of fear is to understand what it is that scares him, and the easiest way to understand something is to become it. People fear the unknown. There can be no fear if there is no unknown.

Seidou Takizawa has forgotten fear. He can only thank his new associates for his newfound freedom. Fear was a cage he had built around himself, but now it is broken and discarded. He doesn't need it anymore because now he is strong.

The strong conquer the weak. That, he had always known. He just hadn't ever been the strong one until now, and it was an intoxicatingly euphoric feeling.

They promised he could eat what he wants, so he does. Now he sees humans as food, and they aren't too different from the food he had eaten when he was caged. They come in many shapes and sizes and colors. He can delude himself into seeing their heads as pineapples, their eyes as grapes, their fingers as carrots. He can get every food in the pyramid from one source and that is amazing. The convenience of being a ghoul is something he hadn't considered when he was caged.

He loves it. He loves being a teacher. He loves helping people. He loves showing them how to overcome their fear of death. He loves sharing this knowledge bestowed upon him by his own death. Hell is a beautiful place, he has discovered.

Now he is making up for the blood lost before his death. Now he is consuming it himself. They can't take any more if he takes theirs first.

Yes, hell is a beautiful place.
