When Scorpius first entered the compartment, he had thought it was empty. So when he turned around and noticed a small girl fast asleep, he was absolutely stunned.
Being exceedingly quiet, Scorpius stored his trunk in the luggage rack and took a seat opposite of here. She had poofy red hair and so many freckles that the patchwork quilt pulled up to her nose hardly hid any at all. She also had very pale skin and, even lying in a stretched-out position, looked hardly taller than 4 1/2 feet tall.
After staring at the girl for a while, Scorpius looked around for anything that could shed some light on her identity. Her trunk was battered, and was maroon with the initials "R. W." emblazoned upon it. On the floor by her dangling hand was a copy of the wizarding-fairy tale book The Tales of Beedle the Bard, of which Scorpius was familiar. It too was rather beat up. 'I wonder if she is a Weasley.' he wondered to himself.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, the girl gave a small yawn and sat up. When she noticed Scorpius, she seemed shocked.
"Hello. I'm Scorpius Malfoy. Who are you?" Scorpius asked in a polite tone.
"Rose Weasley." the girl replied in a tone so sweet that Scorpius's heart skipped a beat. "Sorry to have been such a rude companion, but I was up all night reading this book my mum gave me." she added as she picked up The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
"Don't worry about it. I hope you don't mind my asking, but who are your parents?" Scorpius asked.
"Ron and Hermione Weasley. And yours?"
"Draco and Astoria Malfoy. I only ask because Father told me the Weasleys were nothing but trouble. But I think he had his facts wrong. I've only known you for a few minutes, and I already like you." Scorpius said as a blush worthy of the Weasley's covered his pale, pointed face.
Rose laughed. "Same here. Daddy told me Malfoys were evil gits and that I should beat you in every class. But you seem nice. I think we'll be good friends. Do you agree?" she asked hopefully.
"Definitely." Scorpius said with a smile.
