sleep -- version SASUKE

Somehow, he always winds up in her arms.

On nights when she can't sleep, she enjoys watching him. She is careful not to touch him, because he might disappear right before her, but her eyes are always on his face, always searching for any small detail that isn't already imbedded in her clear memories. He always falls asleep on his back, his hands resting on his chest. She admires his aristocratic nose, the curve of his eyelids, his high cheekbones, and his perfect lips, (which, she remembers with a pleased blush, were glued to her own not so long ago.) Night seems to give her Sasuke-kun a perfection that the sun can't offer. (This has always annoyed her, how he can always become that much more beautiful just by falling asleep, but she loves it too because she's the one who gets to stare at him whenever she so chooses.) His face is very still when he sleeps.

When he is dreaming, it is another matter entirely.

She can tell when his demons are haunting again because his perfect eyebrows pull together and his perfect lips frown slightly and his tranquil body suddenly can't be at rest, turning this way and that, his limbs become lost and entagled within the sheets. It pains her to see him like this, because she knows that this means he's still suffering, he's still not completely healed yet and her job as his healer is still not over, but she never tries to wake him because then there's a high possibility that he'll remember those nightmares.

No, she will not touch him, she will not wake him.

Because, even though he dreams on many of the nights she watches him, he always seems to wind up in her arms. He becomes still as their limbs find their ways about each other, and Sakura smiles to herself.

Someday she hopes to be able to wrap her arms around him all night long.

This is going to be a four-shot based on this idea I had while trying to warm up my frozen hands and toes last night.

Happy belated Thanksgiving!
