A/N: I am not sure when I will update. Please Review! It would mean a lot to me!
DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING FROM THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
I search the small plane for my seat, finally finding it on the next to last row.
I slide into the leather seat and wave my hand to Matt, he joins me quickly.
I bend down, unfastening my Jimmy Choo, 6 inch heels and wiggle them off of my feet, getting comfortable for the long plane ride.
I closed my eyes and fastened my seatbelt.
I was happy. So beyond happy actually, I was finally getting out of Mystic Falls.
My boyfriend Matt, as a graduation present to me, bought us two tickets on a plane that was destined for Kenya.
There we would begin our adventure together.
The last thing I wanted was to be going off to college in three months.
This trip to Kenya was the last freedom I was going to have in 4 years before my mom enrolled me as a business major in community college.
Of course mom was allowing me to minor in fashion but nonetheless I was unenthused.
I try to sleep most of the ride, but it is hindered by a young girl, crying hysterically in the seat behind me.
I look beside me, Matt is looking at some travel magazine, eating a small cup of chocolate pudding, seemingly unfazed by the young child's excessive crying.
I pull a small mirror out of my carry on bag, and position it so I can see the seat behind us.
The girl is young, maybe three or four years old, has extremely fair skin, piercing blue eyes and long, jet black hair.
Her cheeks are red from crying, she looks like she is finally calmed down some, her chest still faintly shaking from her sobs.
She is leaning on a man that looks to be in his early 20's who must be her father, sharing the same hair color and complexion.
"It's okay baby, go to sleep. Once we get to Kenya, Uncle Stefan will help us gather a search party and we will look for mommy." He says, smoothing her gentle curls out of the young girl's face.
"Unca Stefan." She hiccups, her eyes still closed, head rested against the man's chest.
"Yes baby Uncle Stefan and Aunt Lexi will help us."
Once I am certain the girl is asleep I put up my mirror and turn around to talk to the father.
"Hi." I say, my cheeks turning a shade of red from embarrassment. "I couldnt help but over hear the conversation, uh, is the the girl's mother missing?"
He shifts the child away from him slightly, careful not to wake her, and pulls his wallet from his jeans pocket.
He pulls out a folded piece of paper from the wallet and hands it to me.
It's a flyer, a missing persons flyer.
It reads, "Missing. Elena Gilbert Salvatore-mother and wife. Last seen in the sea area between the shores of Kenya and Mikaelson island. Please call Damon Salvatore at 1-890-184-9708 if you have any tips to her wearabouts. "
I hand the flyer back to the gentleman.
"Your Damon I presume?" I ask.
He nods solemnly.
"I'm Caroline. Is there anything we can do."I say, catching Matt's attention beside me.
"What?" Matt asks.
"His wife is missing." I whisper to him.
"My brother Stefan lives in Kenya, on the coast. We have suspicions that Elena was kidnapped by the Mikaelson's, they are this extremely rich, British family that inhabits a remote island off the isles of Kenya."
"Why would they kidnap your wife?" I ask.
"They are demonic. They lure young women on their island all the time. Well they use to before the coast guard started doing serious investigations. Now and again girls will still go missing, like Elena and like her sister Katherine."
"Her sister Katherine is missing too."
"Yes, Katherine went on Mikaelson island...alone. We never saw her again, figured they either kidnapped her like Elena, or fed her to the hybrids."
"Hybrids?" Matt asks, skepticism dripping off his voice.
"Hybrids are a vampire, werewolf mix. The head of the Mikaelson clan, Niklaus, is said to be a hybrid, but it's all just speculation."
"You mentioned a search party...mind if we tag along." I ask.
"Caroline what are you talking about. You don't know this guy...no offense...and your just willing to go and help him find his wife on some strange island. What about our Kenyan adventure?"
"We will still have our adventure Matt, besides he has a daughter and he needs to find his wife, her mother."
"Matthew Donovan." I interject. "This is my last shot at adventure before I become some rotten business major with some boring job. Plus we have a chance to help this woman, her husband and their daughter."
He wrings his hands together and chews on his lip, I know he's weighing our options
The guy interrupts us with a big smirk on his face, his white teeth glistening.
It looked evil but in a sexy seductive kind of way that made me jealous of his wife.
"I would be honored if you two would like to help me. Stefan would be more than happy to give you two a stay in Kenya afterwards. As long as you two would like."
"Come on Matt." I beg. "This is such an amazing opportunity. We would get to go to Kenya, some desolate island and we get to do our good deed for the day while we are at it."
I shake his arms so excited.
"Fine." Matt relents.
I pull him into a hug "Okay, we are in." I tell Damon. Adventure here we come.
...
...
Damon's brother, Stefan's house is about 5 minutes away from the beach, right on the coastline as Damon said.
Damon takes Nina inside Stefan's villa.
She is staying on the mainland while the search party goes to the island.
Stefan comes out to great us and my heart stops.
He's as devilishly handsome as his brother, the stereotypical tall, dark and handsome.
"Hello." He says shaking my hand, then Matt's. "I'm Stefan and this is my wife Lexi."
Talk about a Victoria Secret model, Lexi was gorgeous, her short blonde hair accented perfectly with her tanned shapely body.
I try desperately to conceal my jealousy.
Damon comes back out without Nina and puts his arm around my shoulder.
"Stef they are going to join us to Mikaelson island." Damon says.
"Terrific but sweetheart..."
"Caroline." I say.
"Caroline." Stefan smiles. "You can't go on Mikaelson island in heels. Lex, love, wont you go get her more suitable shoes."
"Sure." She says.
I can tell she doesnt care for me, probably cause I'm another pretty blonde, at least thats what I tell myself.
An hour and some ugly croc shoes later we are on the boat on the way to Mikaelson island.
As Lexi steers the boat, Damon breaks down the game plan.
Stefan was going to stay with the boat while the rest of us are going to search the island.
Matt and a guy named Alaric are going to investigate around the boathouse on the east side of the island.
Rose and I were to check out an old cellar and shack close to the mansion while Lexi and Damon were going to scope out the palace inhabitants.
I'm nervous to leave Matt but Rose seems nice.
She's obviously a tom boy.
"So, Rose how did you come to join the search party for Elena?" I ask.
"Damon and I use to go to high school together. We were best friends back in the day. I moved away though and he married Elena and they had Nina so we just kinda drifted apart. I cant tell you how broken he was when he called me to tell me Elena had been kidnapped. I just knew I had to come help. Help Damon get his wife back. Help Nina get her mother back." She sighs and runs her fingers through her short brown hair.
"How'd you get wrangled into this, Caroline?" I laugh.
The cellar is finally coming into view.
"The adventure of course." Rose laughs with me as we stealthly approach the cellar.
I get slightly in front of her as we walk closer.
We are almost the the door in the ground when I hear a crack.
I look back thinking Rose stepped on a branch, instead I see her on the ground.
"Rose." I ask, bending down.
I feel for a pulse but there is none.
A broken gasp escapes my lips.
What just happened!
I look around and that's when I hear it, the growling.
Not hesitating I just begin to run.
I keep on running until I am out of breath.
I hear the growling again.
I turn around as something jumps out of the bushes, still growling. It's not an animal, it's a girl.
A girl with blonde hair and flawless skin, wearing a bright yellow dress and barring her...fangs?
Who was this girl?
Before I am able to say anything, the mysterious girl grabs my arm and speeds away with me in tow.
Whatever this girl was, it wasn't human.
