Heya Sammy

Dean is in third grade. Four years older than his baby brother that just started Kindergarten. He hates being in school and being so far away from his brother, not able to watch over him at all hours like he should. So during recess, every day, Dean goes to check on Sammy.

At first, Dean's teacher would try to stop him. He's not supposed to be in the school or in other classrooms during recess. But every day Dean would make his escape and end up in the office. Finally, after the third week of the same attempts, his teacher simply sighs and lets him go.

His next obstacle is Sam's teacher. The first time, the Kindergarten teachers sends him back outside with a stern look, telling him that Sam is fine and he needs to be with his class. But then she sees the hidden tears in Dean's eyes and the way his jaw clenches and realizes these brothers are closer than some of the other siblings that go to this school. So the next time Dean comes she simply smiles and lets Dean into the room.

"Sam, your big brother's here." She says.

Sam looks up from the play-doh he was forming into some unrecognizable creature and his hazel eyes widen at the sight of his brother and he throws down the play-doh, running over to his brother with a cry of "Bean!"

Dean smiles and hugs his brother, resting his chin on the top of his brother's head, "Heya Sammy." He says softly, closing his eyes.

Sammy leads Dean over to the table, talking a mile a minute and using his hands to tell Dean about his class and his new friends and the animals he was making. Dean shapes the play-doh Sam gives him and listens to his brother talk, his face relaxed and happy.

Several minutes later Dean's teacher enters the class room and tells Dean that recess is over. Dean kisses Sam on the top of his head and says, "I'll pick you up at three." And smiles at Sam's teacher before leaving the room.

Sam waves bye to his big brother, the biggest smile his Kindergarten teacher's ever seen on his face and she knows they've made the right decision bending the rules for these two little boys.

AN: Based on the post by tumblr user hushshu "8 year old dean dropping by sammy's kindergarten class during recess time to check up on him and the teacher knows him so well already because he goes there every day and she calls out "sam, your big brother's here!" and sam jerks his head up from whatever little kiddy activity he's doing with bright, round eyes to waddle-run to dean as he shouts "bean!" and runs straight into dean's arms and dean replies with "heya Sammy" "
