Joe Tier was pinned down behind a rock along with his fellow lawmen George Tramson and Douglas Chapman. They were sent out by the Sheriff to find a group of outlaws that were supposed to be inside a cave near Tumbleweed. Joe was firing his Winchester Rifle into the window of a shack and hit an outlaw in between the eyes. George hollered over to Joe, "Do ya think Ferret is with 'em?". "Probably. Knowing Ferret, he wouldn't let down the chance to pop some lawmen!". Right as Joe finished his sentence, a bullet hit George in the right arm. Shit!, thought Joe. "Doug! George just got shot! We need to get him out of here!". Douglas hollered back, "There's a farm about half a mile from here. I'm sure they have a wagon that we can borrow.". "Alright! You run over to the farm and talk to them. I'll fend them off until you get back!". Douglas nodded in agreement and started the run to the farm.

After about 15 minutes, Douglas returned with the wagon. By then, most of the outlaws were either dead or running back home. Douglas and Joe loaded George up in the wagon and headed back to Armadillo with Joe in the back with George and Douglas driving. They would have to leave their horses. About halfway there, a group of bandits from the same gang attacked them on horseback. George was the first to see them, so he pulled out his revolver and started firing without even saying a word. Joe and Doug quickly noticed what he was shooting at, so Joe helped George kill them all. Finally, after arriving in Armadillo, George got his wound treated at the local doctor. Meanwhile, Joe and Douglas went in the Sheriff's office and told him what happened. The Sheriff asked them about George and they told him. "Did you boys find Ferret?". They both said no. They were told to get some rest because they would be riding out to Tumbleweed again the next day.
