Squinting in the bright light Jill stepped out of the bedroom, "what are you doing up? It's 2 am."
Cindy glanced up from her laptop, "sorry. Did I wake you?"
"No, you didn't." Jill yawned as she made her way to the couch. "I just don't understand how you survive on so little sleep," the attorney said as she curled up next to her lover, resting her head on the redhead's shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"I finished my article and then I couldn't sleep."
Jill glanced at the screen. "Is that an All My Children message board?"
"Um, yes." Cindy replied softly.
"But you don't watch soaps. Do you?" Jill accused.
"No, of course not. It's just that sometimes when I'm bored I like to go onto message boards and mess with people," she admitted shyly. "And soap boards are the best because the fans can really get riled up."
"And you're not twelve." Jill muttered.
"Hey."
"And the fact that you are on this particular board has nothing to do with the gay wedding they had last month."
"Of course not." Cindy turned her head to look at Jill, "how did you know about that?"
"I'm a gay woman. I have every secretary and stenographer at the court house asking what I thought of the wedding. And a few bailiffs too, of course they claim their wives watch."
"And what did you tell them," Cindy asked with a smile.
"That soaps are the lowest form of entertainment on television," Jill replied.
"You know there have been some very fine actresses that have started in daytime." Cindy defended. "It's not their fault the writing is so lame."
Jill raised an eyebrow to study her girlfriend, "not that you watch them of course."
"I've seen clips on You Tube."
"And that is different how?" Jill asked.
"Well like you said, they are the lowest form of entertainment on television, but there is much worse stuff online ."
"So since they are not the lowest on You Tube that makes them okay?"
"Exactly."
Jill laughed at this reasoning, "Claire was right."
"About?"
"You rationalize better than anyone." Jill lowered her head back to Cindy's shoulder, "did they live happily ever after?"
"Its a soap. One of them kissed a man before the wedding and when the other one found out she took the kids and left. And to top it off now the kisser is blind."
Jill's head snapped up, "they blinded the lesbian. There has to be some hidden meaning there."
Cindy studied Jill for a second. "If we break up and I go blind would you at least call me. Don't send me a letter."
"What?" Jill asked incredulously.
"That's what's supposed to happen. The scorned one sends the blind one a letter telling her too bad about your luck but I'm not coming back. That is just cold, a letter to a blind person."
"Good god," Jill sighed as she leaned over and closed the laptop. "Just stop and come to bed," she said as she rose from the couch.
"Well now I feel invested. I have to know how it ends." Cindy admitted as Jill made her way to the bedroom.
Jill stopped in the doorway. "You know Bianca is going to come back when Ian ends up in the hospital and they need Gabby to save her half brother's life. The whole thing will reunite her with Reese and bring Kendall and Zach back together," she said as she stepped into the bedroom.
"You sneak," Cindy exclaimed as she threw her laptop onto the couch and ran after her lover.
A/N: To any soap watchers--no offense, but honestly you should be used to it.
