The snow was coming down gently in Diagon Alley as George Weasley walked along the closing shops. He pulled his jacket tighter around his shoulders and sighed. It had been an awful day. Today was the three year anniversary of he and Fred opening the joke shop. And although it was March it was still cold and snowing. Snow had been the twin's favorite weather. Too many reminders of Fred were around that day and it hurt too much for George to think about it. Not to mention Angelina. He sighed again. That was a relationship destined for failure. He knew deep down she was only dating him to feel some sort of connection to Fred as was he with her.
He had reached the front of his shop again but he didn't want to go in but there was no where else for him to go. So he went inside and locked the door behind him, and turned off the lights. He walked up to his room at the top of the stairs and sat at his desk, staring out the window at the snow. He had never really liked Angelina. Sure she was a great friend but that was it. Who he really had liked was Katie Bell. He hadn't seen her since Fred's funeral where he told her it was over between them. He hadn't really meant it but he was too distraught to really know what he was saying. As he contemplated this a perfect snowflake landed on his window pane. It lingered for a moment, giving him time to take it in, admire its beauty and then slowly…it had melted.
Life was like a snowflake, he found himself thinking. You land somewhere just long enough to leave a memory and then you disappear. All that's left is the notion that you were once there. He looked past just the glass of his window and saw someone walking away from his shop. It was Katie. He grabbed his jacket and headed back outside catching up with her. They walked in silence, all the words left unneeded; they knew what they wanted to say to each other. And they walked, their footsteps slowly being covered by freshly falling snow.
