This was not the first time Rapunzel claimed something so outlandish Eugene was sure it could never be true. In fact, it was the second time.
The first time, she had said her hair glowed, and it had- but this was…
"Eugene, I'm the lost princess." She looked at him with those huge green eyes and big smile that he couldn't help but want it to be true.
And now, suddenly, he found himself backed into a terrible corner. He wasn't sure that had ever happened more than a couple of times in his life, and the last thing you want after being dead is this much stress. He had to find a way to tell her why this could never be without hurting her, and he wasn't sure he could do it.
"Blondie, think about what you're claiming, I mean, the princess has been gone eighteen years…"
"And I've been alive eighteen years!" She countered.
"Well, there are a lot of eighteen year old girls."
"Not as many that share her birthday."
"Well, yes…"
"Oh, and Corona's symbol! I've been painting it subliminally my entire life!" She jumped to her feel and twirled around with her arms spread wide. Eugene stared up at the beautifully painted walls, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't see the symbol.
"And the princess and I both have blond hair and green eyes, right?" She paused at that, and her face, fell a little bit. "Had blond hair…"
Eugene sighed, climbing to his feet for the first time since his return to consciousness. Neither Eugene nor Flynn were well versed in the subject of comforting sad women, but Eugene was sure of one thing: Rapunzel had lost a lot today, her mother, her hair, and he was not going to take her last hope away.
"You really believe this?"He asked, pulling her small frame into a tight embrace.
She smiled and turned her head up to stare intently at him, "I do."
"And you know I can't just waltz into Corona this time."
"We'll find a way."
Eugene smirked, "Well then by all means, princess, I think it's about time I met your parents."
