The Sorting Hat had just called out "GRYFFINDOR!" for "Granger, Hermione." While she was walking to the Gryffindor Table she saw an older student sitting next to a lean looking boy with the hair of Ron Weasley, about 15 years old, sitting next to a teenager who looked very much like her cousin Oliver. When she got closer to the two fifth year Lions she saw that it really was her cousin, Oliver.
"Ollie, what are you doing here?" Hermione accidently called to him. She then realized that she might have embarrassed her favorite cousin when three girls sitting near him started laughing and poking him.
"I've been going to school here for the past four years." He explained carefully to his younger cousin like she was a three year old. "I did tell you that I went to boarding school." The next part he muttered under his breath. "What are the chances of it being the same boarding school! So, when did you get your letter?" He asked in a much lower tone than normal; the Sorting was still going on.
"I got it on my eleventh birthday before you came over for the party. Professor McGonagall delivered it." Hermione said in a timid voice, entirely different from the one she used earlier when talking to Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.
The slim teen with red hair and horn-rimmed glasses poked Oliver on the arm and asked "How do you two know each other?" After he asked that question rather rudely, a way that Hermione would later recognize as a trait of all the Weasley children, tacked on "I'm Percy Weasley; it's nice to meet you." He said.
Oliver explained how he knew Hermione which wasn't as long or complicated as everyone thought it would be. First he introduced everyone to Hermione. After the slightly awkward introductions he explained that he and Hermione were first cousin through their mothers. Percy asked how she was a muggle-born and he was a half-blood; the answer was simple Oliver's father was a wizard and Hermione's was a muggle.
Once the conversation was over Percy and Hermione started talking about school while eating dinner. No one noticed but Percy and Oliver were holding hands under the table. They were both thinking that when they got to their dorm they were going to more than hold hands.
