I looked up at the mirror. This had become a routine for me: find my reflection, bring it to the mirror, reflection climbs in, I touch the mirror, memories flood into me. I still hadn't gotten used to the fact that my reflection was hiding things from me. It was an unnerving feeling, almost like it was growing a conscious.

As I touched the mirror for the umpteenth time, the memories flooded into me. "I" went to school, where I took an Algebra quiz. My best friend, Edy got kissed by her boyfriend, and Cassie got asked out by the most popular guy in school.

I went downstairs to where my parents were.

"Hey mom," I said, and grabbed a bowl.

"Hey sweetie," she replied.

I filled up my bowl with cereal and went to the fridge to grab the milk; it wasn't there.

"Where's the milk?" I asked.

"We're out," she replied, "Damn lazy cows!"

I sat down and started munching on dry cereal. I realized that it had been forever since I had last eaten, and I started to gulp down bite after bite.

I finally got tired of eating, and I went back upstairs. I changed into my uniform, but I took the jacket off. I remembered what Skulduggery had told me, and I would only make that mistake once.

I walked up to my mirror and saw Reflection. I touched the mirror, and Reflection stepped out.

"Ready for school?" I asked it.

"Yes," it replied.

"Ok, bye," I said, and walked over to the window. I felt the way the air was like interlocking pieces. I pushed and heard the familiar "whoosh" of the wind.

That's when I saw the Bentley. I ran over a jumped in.

"Good morning," Skulduggery said.

"Morning," I replied.

"Where to?" he asked.

"Why don't we stop by the Sanctuary?" I asked.

"Really?" he asked, "I would've thought you wanted to stop by Tanith's and practice your magic."

"No," I replied, "I feel like something at the Sanctuary needs me, but I don't know why."

"Well, I did teach you to follow your instincts, so I guess," he replied.

He started driving to the Sanctuary and suddenly stopped.

"Who's that?" he asked.

"Who's who?" I asked, confused.

"I don't know; I saw some shadow. I could've sworn I saw Barron Vengeous," he said, "I must be seeing things.

"Well, you have been known for your wild imagination." I replied.

Then we got jumped. Skulduggery was right. Barron Vengeous attacked us with all he had. But there was only one of him, and two of us.

I pushed at the air as Skulduggery threw a fireball.

Vengeous flew back and hit a brick building. Skulduggery and I jumped in the Bentley and quickly drove of.

"That was…weird," Skulduggery said.

"Yeah…" I added.

We drove in silence the rest of the way to the Sanctuary.

"We need to speak to Guild," Skulduggery said, "something weird is going on and he needs to know."

"But Guild hates us," I responded, "do you really think he will listen?"

"No," he said, grinning, "but when I'm right, he just might give me my job back."

I grinned, "That will be funny."

We continued driving.
