Title: With Eyes Shut

Pairing: B/J (Bella/Jacob)

Summary: When she closes her eyes she feels warmth and stinging memories.

A/N Just thought I'd write something for the BJ fans out there. Short but sweet. I hope.

When she closes her eyes it hardly matters anymore. He is kissing her, making her knees go weak. And they are happy.

When she closes her eyes she can pretend. Instead of warm chocolate eyes she sees liquid topaz, so soothing and gentle.

When she closes her eyes it's like he's there in front of her, bronze hair tousled and her favorite crooked grin brightening his angel's face. In the darkness everything seems the way it should be.

But it isn't. She's kissing Jacob Black and he is warm beneath her fingers, so warm it burns and soothes at the same time, a wild fire under his skin. Edward was always so cold, solid and there.

Jacob is warm and loving. Sometimes it's suffocating, how hot he gets, how Jacob curls around her when they sleep, he breathes her in, burrows his head into her stomach and she can feel that overpowering affection for him that she has for no one else.

When she closes her eyes against the tears...it hardly hurts anymore. Jacob is always there, grasping her hand, making her smile and laugh and forget. Jacob, with his easy smile and graceful hands. He dulls the ache.

And after a year of waiting and pain and stinging memories, when she closes her eyes and presses her lips to his, she isn't pretending anything.
