So, this is for the One Word challenge in the HPFC forum, the time line is in the middle of the fifth book (Order of Phoenix) I hope you enjoy it!
Disclaimer: I don't own this. J.K does.
One more day in the library. I just have to have good marks on the OWLs. Ron keeps saying I'm a nerd when he thinks I'm not listening…we'll see who's the nerd when I get a bunch of Os and he'll have miserable Ts. This vision always makes my day. I sighed as I closed a book and opened another.
It's not like I enjoy studying but it is necessary, sure I'd prefer to be outside, maybe near the lake, reading some romance, some Jane Austen perhaps…Hermione stop! Keep your head focus! Like dad always says, eyes on the prize. A good job, probably in the minister…Oh! I could make S.P.E.W move forward! Now that's a dream, house-elves everywhere would be free and happy, no more slavery…if only Harry and Ron would help me a little. What the heck I can do this myself, if they don't want to help me, fine, they'll be begging to join the cause later, when it's a massive hit.
I found myself smiling and nodding, well that and Madam Pince raising an eyebrow and eyeing me. I buried my head in the book and felt my cheeks blush. I guess this is what I get for dreaming too high. I should just keep studying, one step at the time. With all the plotting and creation of D.A not to mention the prefect duties, time as been little, I've been late on my History of Magic studies. I began reading, the first of the many yellow pages with tiny letters of the book, that's when I noticed, I didn't even knew what book I was reading! I closed it hard, getting an angry look from Madam Pince, oh for the love of God, doesn't that woman have anything better to do than spy on me?
I picked the book and went to the darkest part of the library, the place where I'd gotten the book in the first place, the darn heavy book that I had to control myself not to drag trough the floor. Then, when the absence of light was noticed and Madam Pince wasn't visible, I bumped into someone. I dropped the book on the floor, but I pick it up the fastest as I could, praying that Madam Pince hadn't heard anything, I opened my mouth to apologize and I saw that the person I'd just bumped into was Malfoy.
We looked at each other for quite some time; the book seemed to turn heavier each minute, but I refused to break the silence, only when Malfoy opened his mouth to speak, probably to say some snarky comment, an idea flashed in my mind.
"Sure!" I exclaimed smiling, a little louder than needed, before he could talk.
I almost threw the book into his arms, making him close his mouth and give a step back thanks to the weight of the book. I gave him a quick and small peck in his cheek, hoping that would shock him to the point he wouldn't reply, and it worked. When I looked back, as I hurried away to the table with the purpose of retrieving my things, I saw a very shocked and wide eyed Malfoy.
I grabbed my bag and before leaving, I offered a small wink to Madam Pince, which seemed to shock her tremendously, and left the library. Well that was accelerating! I have to say, shocking two people? It felt good.
I smiled to myself. It had been a good afternoon after all...I guess studying can be fun.
How was that? Review telling me what you think!
