The toughest

Author Note: Alright, here is my pretty short one-shot entry for Think Purple 54's contest! Enjoy! :D

Kuki stared at the package in her green-sleeved hands. She wanted Number 4 to like her gift to him, but he probably wouldn't. It came from her heart, but still. He was too cool to really like her. But she had to attempt. Maybe he would. After all, it was his birthday.

Breathing in, she knocked out his bedroom door. He didn't answer, so she came right on in. The sight surprised her. Number Four wasn't working out or sleeping. Instead, he was in his bed, sniffling in tears. She blinked in disbelief. The toughest member was crying like a baby.

"Wally?" she spoke softly.

"Kuki!" he bolted upright and shoved his face into his pillow, "what do you want?"

"Um…why were you crying?" she inquired.

"I wasn't!" he snapped, "I was just…sweating through my eyes."

"Wallabee," she sat beside him, setting the gift behind her back.

"I was crying because this'll be my last year as a KND member," he confessed, "I'm going to miss this."

"Oh," she pulled her arms around him, "well, let's make this a good year."

"But it's not just this," he sighed, "I'm going to forget you guys." He met her gaze, and she blinked.

"You'll miss me?" she whispered.

"Of course I will," he nodded, embarresed, "you're, like, the life. Me? I'm the rebel with a attitude."

"You're the toughest," she took his hand, "and the most admired."

"By who?"

Blushing, she muttered, "Me."

"What? I always thought you'd think of me as a bad influence," he was redder than her.

"I see you as someone who's making me tougher," she spoke the truth, "and as someone I really admire."

"I always thought you liked Number 1,"

"Not really," she took her hand through her sleeve, "my heart his for you."

"I'll make sure I never forget you then," he pulled her close.

Smiling widely, she flipped his hoodie over his head. Grinning in the shadow in the shadow of it, he rolled her sleeves up and cut them off with a sharp piece of glass. She smiled at his playfulness before holding out the gift.

"I made you this," she smiled.

He took it gratefully, though he pretty much knew what she'd gotten him: A Rainbow Dorky.

But he gasped at what she'd made. It was a little sack with hearts and flowers over it.

"Thanks," he held back a scowl.

"Look inside,"

When he did, she found a picture. It was Kuki, as a little girl, just now joining the KND. She held her Rainbow Monkey in one arm, but in the other arm she held Wallabee. He was a scrawny thing with his blonde hair was in her eyes, pretty much the entire way. His sweatshirt was baggy, and her hands were covered by that big green shirt.

It was the first time they'd met.

"You kept that after all these years?" he whispered, tracing orange and green frame swirles in the frame.

"Of course I did, silly," she was so happy he liked it.

Wally smiled and kissed her oval-shapped cheek. But she took his face and kissed his cheek, and he kissed back. The two held that pose for a long time. Finally, they had to break for air. She stroked his cheek gently and touched her nose against his forehead.

"Happy birthday, Wally," she murmured, rising and leaving.

He stared at the picture lovingly. She was totally amazing, and she called him the toughest. Well, if he was the toughest, then she was his match.

Author Note: Hope I wasn't too late! :D
