Here I am; sitting here. It has been 6 weeks since I received the news about him. I remember it like it was yesterday; when my whole world crumbled around me. It felt like my heart was being crushed in a vice and an empty pit of despair had enveloped me. A part of me hopes that he was still here; by my side comforting me; the only person who could make this feeling disappear. Will this pain ever go away? Will I ever go back to how I was?
6 weeks earlier
The car stopped in front of a house; it was a plain looking house with red windows, a blue door and fading house number. The house itself was very mediocre; there was no paint only cold brick. It had a small garden with a few rose plants, daffodils and blue belles. There were two soldiers that came out of the car. One of them had an air of superiority; he was dressed in royal blue, whereas, the other soldier was dressed in forest green. It was clear to see who was in charge. The soldier in royal blue went up to the house and knocked on the door several times. After one minute the door opened and they were face to face with a woman in her late 20's or early 30's. When they saw her, their faces were masked with grief and sorrow for the news they were about to break to her. "Good evening is it Mrs Bella Salvatore?" he asked "Yes. How may I help you?" she replied shyly "I am General Thomas this is Mr Gray. May we come in?"He pointed to the soldier in green uniform. "Yeah sure" she guided them to a small living room.
The living room was small with little furniture there was a two-seater sofa, an armchair, a low coffee table, a small flat screen T.V and a table on the far side of the room. On the table there was a picture of her and her husband. "Please take a seat." She said in a timid voice "Thank you" major Thomas replied. "The reason we are here is because well we received news about your husband"he told her. "We have news from the last mission your husband was involved in; and I am sorry but…" General Thomas's voice broke they all know this was the hardest part of the job; to tell the people that their loved ones are dead or that they are missing presumed dead. "Your husband is MIA I am sorry for your loss. I've worked with Damon before he was a good man if there is…" he couldn't finish the sentence as Bella broke down crying and said "You just said he's missing so there is a chance he could still be alive" she said through sobs. This was getting hard "Yes but we are presuming him dead most soldier that goes MAI, their bodies are found week later. So am sorry but there a chance that he might be dead. If there anything we can help with please don't hesitate to call me; here's my number." She took his number but she didn't stop crying. Soon the two soldiers left.
Present
After they left everyday has been the same; but I need to go out. I know he wouldn't was me to waste my life like this. I've been walking for some time now. Everywhere is crowded; I keep walking. I accidently bump someone, I look and I knew I would be ok.
